Meh. I enjoyed it for what it was. Wish they didn't end on a cliffhanger, but oh well.

    Good riddance.

Not surprising to me, looked DOA from the start and all the clips that came out online were mocked to hell and back

Damn thats actually wild. As i said in my thoughts, Season 1 showed promise even though I think they buggered a few things.. its a little shocking they just straight up dumpstered it cause it coulda been great with some decent writing.

Regardless of how good/bad the show was, this really does not help Netflix rep about cancelling shows way too quickly and discouraging people from getting invested in their programs

3-ish recasts, writing change to stick more to source material. Less vicious and Julia, this could be really successful.

Found myself really like Cho, Jet, and even Faye by the end.

They got like 50% of this really right, but the other 50% is downright terrible. Spike and Jet we're great, and Faye is not what I expected but she did a great job imo. They just gave too much Julia and Vicious instead of leaving it mysterious like the anime, and tried to cram too many anime episode plots into too few live action episodes and screen time.

I wish they didn't even focus on the overarching story this season. I really just wanted 10 one off adventures with the Bebop crew to have fun and get to know them, then give me heavy arc stuff next season.

My thoughts exactly. It seems that Netflix is now just giving shows a chance for one season and if it doesn’t do Squid Game like numbers, then it gets the axe instead of the whole 3 season and cancel method they used to do. For them to cancel the show after 3 weeks leads me to believe that they were going to cancel it anyways. Out of all the Netflix anime adaptations that I’ve seen, this one was probably the best even with the changes to make it different from the anime. I was really looking forward to season 2 and how they would tie in the other stories such as the revelation of Faye’s past (would’ve been a great way to fill in some things for non anime viewers), and how things would work moving forward after the cliffhanger etc.

I'm surprised by this. Cowboy Bebop is a huge IP and they sunk a ton of money into it, it at least deserved a second season. I haven't watch it yet but it was on my plate to start next week.

Pretty bummed about this. It wasn't the best thing ever or anything, but the primary cast were all solid. Vicious was cartoon levels of goofy, but whatever, don't really blame the actor much on that. I feel like it hit the right marks to fit the tone and setting of Bebop. I wonder if cost was a big concern, they didn't go light on the CG and a lot of the sets were pretty unique. Pretty sure if I rewatch the anime, I'll feel like Jet doesn't hold up to the live action version, he really hit all the beats and then some.

the show was dogshit and any praise towards it fills me with such confusion that i feel you are all in an entirely different reality. hell even the live action death note was better than this solely because the main character turned it into an absurdist comedy to the point of enjoyment

I got through an episode and a half and couldn't motivate myself to go any further.

And I'm pretty damn easy to please with movies/TV shows.

More than being bad, this show was just downright boring which is the greatest insult I can see. I'm not sure how you take such fun concepts, characters and stories and make it so damn bland and boring. Everything adapted was done worse and drawn out over 40 minutes and it just can't hold my attention compared to a tight 20 min story.

Good riddance, this wasn't exactly a cheap cash grab but it was one all the same. If you can't respect the source material at least a little bit you shouldn't be doing an adaptation.

The only major flaw was the writing (and Ed I guess).

Casting and acting for the core cast was good to great, visual and audio was solid. But the writing for the stuff they added (the Julia/Vicious plot) was not good, but writing is a fixable problem when the rest of the product was well put together and you're dealing with an established property that has stories to pull from.

But clearly Netflix figured it wasn't worth the bother
