Faye’s was made to look like sexy anime chick.

Faye was also from a different era (spent 54 years in cryo), so that can explain the difference in fashion. It's just that no one in the show changed their clothes because reasons.

I would say they are staying away from bright colors aesthetically, so Faye’s had to get dimmed down. It looks weird that everything’s else seems spot on only because even in the anime spike and jet’s clothing were more or less modern/normal clothing where Faye’s was made to look like sexy anime chick.

Yeah, my main hangup with Faye is that her outfit and hair just look wrong. You can do a more dull red for her jacket without just defaulting to brown. Also did she ever wear gloves? There might have been like, one time, unless it's my brain fucking with me again. The gloves I think I remember her wearing were fingerless, though.

I had to go look now myself, but yeah in her regular outfit, she never wore gloves. Only if she was undercover and in a dress.

Stills look fine, but stills always look fine in live action anime adaptations for the most part.

Its the acting, script, plot, bastardization of lore, budget, direction and so many other aspects that tank these time after time.

They had to tone down Faye because late 90's Anime design wouldn't translate well today, so they went a bit more conservative with the design (no cleavage, dark stockings/high boots to not show so much skin). The whole thing looks a lot better than I imagined for all of the character designs.

As far as the series goes, I really do wonder if the show is just going to start with all 4 characters or if we will naturally meet them as episodes progress. I would rather they do a two season treatment and use major plot points from the anime and then add in new content but I have a feeling this is a one and done.

I do agree that Faye probably wouldn't translate well as a 1 to 1 adaptation, only thing I don't particularly like about her adaptation here is the brown jacket and the thigh high cowboy boots or whatever the fuck those are, I dont got a good view of them. Obviously they didn't want to overly sexualize her cause <Current Year> but I think they course corrected a little too hard in the other direction.

Some things I can understand because anime physics don't apply, but I'd definitely say they're playing it safe on both casting and costuming. Just reminds me of how hero movies are so deathly afraid to actually hire more physically built actresses.
