Tatsu is dope but the loops are actually dumb easy to do lol.

@Welt, train yourself to hold down+forward when dashing and calling assist. You'll continue the dash but won't tag.

I agree with Nits on autocombo. It provides for some interesting stuff.

Also one thing I wanted to add, they really did perfect trip guard in this game. Many times in mvci I felt like the window where you couldn't block was so big, but here you can't chicken guard everything but the window for holding upback is not too big. I feel like I should be getting hit in those situations.

Can someone give me a basic starting point for what I need to be learning in this game? I don't think I've actually won a match since the night the game launched, it feels like nothing from Street Fighter applies here.

What exactly is troubling you? Opening the opponent? getting spammed by super dash?

This guy has a quick overview of things that could be screwing you up against scrubs that don't know shit. Hopefully it helps.

Not my vid, but i'm applying this Goku Black combo now into my play, can meaty 2M and get them into a nice 5k damage meterless combo in the corner. The meaty after seems to be assist specific, but landing a soft knockdown j.H can allow for assist juggles.

    edit: posted wrong video

I'm back at that state where all buttons are the wrong button to press, blocking gets you killed and any hit turns into a half hour juggle session that just saps morale. Also yes I have no idea how to open opponents or move properly without getting immediately blown up.

Blocking in this game is a trap. Be moving and be offensive, when possible.

Couple things to keep in mind, Dragon Rush L+M is basically your throw, and it's a dash throw, so you can't turtle it, but it can be teched by different methods, so blocking would hurt you there. Believe it or not, Super Dash S+H is actually +-0 on block, so the only thing you can do is trade with your opponent, or if they're stupid enough to touch a button, you can counter hit them. Like the video states, read their Teleport M+H, and read their Super Dash, with a 2H, learn the timing in training mode, and you can get a free combo off opponents.

Quick ways to open your opponents is with an IAD (Instant Air Dash by inputting 9 > neutral > 6) and go for a quick overhead with a j.H, the damage scales with it significantly, but it's a way to get an opening, with a possible hard knockdown, then you can meaty your opponent. Other ways, is to pressure their blocking, and throw a Dragon Rush, just don't do random Super Dash from far as fuck, try to throw them off with a string, and then Super Dash up close, they will have a hard time to react. The key to this game is getting your hard knockdown, once you do, their only option is to block, since there are no real throws in this game, and not many wakeup specials, so it kind of works to your advantage.

I think what helps also is to find yourself a button setup that suits you best if you play on a stick. Depending on what game you're most comfortable with, because the default layout blows ass on a stick.

    https://twitter.com/Tsuntenshi/statu...18617374343170

Not sure if this applies to you, but in the tweet, there's 5 layouts they recommend, i use the first one as i was more comfortable with that UMvC3 setup.

Last thing, some people will disagree, but there's a good reason, L L L auto combo has unique properties across all characters, don't be afraid to use it, but only the first 3 hits. (An example, Beerus has a meterless teleport and appears behind you, i believe it's an overhead too, Frieza and Cell are command grabs that you can combo off of, Goku Black and Vegeta have diagonal launchers that can be used as a corner carry)

Getting absolutely destroyed in about 75% of my matches as expected BUT it´s been like 15 years since I last played a FG so time to suck it up and improve. Also ordered a fight stick cause allready about to get arthritis in my fingers/wrists on day 2 of playing with keyboard. Other than that having an absolute blast with the game. Can´t wait to become decent. Favorite team so far Vegeta (SSJ), Cell, Goku (SSJ)/Yamcha. Figuring out who of the two I like more in this team.

Idk why you guys are even bothering. I've been labbing for the first week to get a grip on hit confirms and my characters combos. Playing matches against people isn't going to help much until you understand your team well enough to convert everything into oki for every scenario.

Like, would you get mad if you weren't winning matches in Street Fighter if you couldn't anti air with dragon punch and your hardest hitting combo is a sweep?

Don't expect to win anything in DBZ if you can't punish air dashes on reaction and are landing 2.5k damage auto combos. HOT TAKE

I Agree DJ, but I like to go into matches to see what situations I can capitalize on and where I can improve my matches. For some reason in dbfz specifically for me, it's blatantly obvious what is causing me to lose and what to practice on. But I don't expect to win all the time.

We all play and practice differently, but i definitely agree with DJ. I’m practicing my bnbs and more complex combos in the lab, and working on oki setups as well, which Goku Black has scary oki setups. Anyone want to play on ps4 this weekend? Will get pc version next weekend, but am very likely getting the season pass for both also at that time.

Homie, telling you, next weekend i’ll get it. Also, any way we can request bg to have a fighting game section in their discord? Seems a lot easier to talk things through there as well.

I just picked up the PC version. I'll get in there with you this weekend, Welt.

I just want the boys and girls at Arcsys to get PAID this time. I dunno how much they made for their old games, but this is the time I want them all to be able to go on that fat vacation with their families to Hawaii or something... wherever Japanese beleaguered salarymen want to go for a 2 week rest.

I felt the same with the team at From Software after the Souls series blew up. When a smallish, grinder company finally makes that prime-time game, I want them to get that prime-time pay and do something nice for themselves. This game is going to make serious money, and I want them to enjoy that.

I've got it on PC, but it's Monster Hunter season and I barely got time to remember to eat, let alone play a fighting game.

I'm on ps4 should be around this weekend (sans Super Bowl of course) I've only mildly dabbled on trhe ranked/casual matches, won a few, lost a few. So meh lol

Still going through story stuff, on the middle arc atm.
Also for the newbies, practice mode has a great tutorial. Can learn several combos and supers there.

One of them is in that corner combo i posted. 214H teleports behind them, can get a good overhead j.H from there, since that hitbox is pretty big.
