all gems from all monsters follow this drop rate:

    gold investigation box: 13%
    silver investigation box: 6%
    body carve: 2%
    capture: 2%
    tail carve: 2%
    wound head: 2%
    plunderblade: 1%

from a mathematical stand point you should get one gem from every 8 gold boxes, but rnjesus doesn't play nice

edit: end boss and zorah have different loot tables because they don't have investigations

Yep. Just got one carving him. Didn't see it on the list so I thought it had to come from an investigation.

Oh well. At least I got a heat shield trinket now.

Not every gem I believe. Wyvern Gem has different drop rates from the various monsters that drop it. Lavasioth and Diablos are 16% from Gold Box, the other mobs that drop it are 13%

Looks like you right. Wyvern is slightly different.

i never thought about this, but i just watched a video of the game ecologist talking about how the geralt armour is an amazing end game starter set, and I really gotta agree.

weakness exploit x3, recovery speed x3, health boost x3, marathon runner x3, attack boost x2, bombardier x2, critical eye x2
    level 1 slot x4, level 2 slot x2, level 3 slot 1

that's pretty sweet to start off with when you haven't killed arch teostra or behemoth yet, nor have 3 weakness exploit jewels
also the beauty of that quest is that you literally dont need any gear going into the fight at all. you get kitted out with the shitty gear the quest provides for you regardless

I'll trade you 10 shield jewels for a magazine or charger jewel.

Does the missions HR rank affect the rarity of feystones? For example if I did missions where I needed a much higher HR rank to participate in would my odds of getting warped feystones increase?

I think L3 locks on but it's a bit finicky from my experience

R3 let's you pick a target to lock onto, then L1 will send the camera in it's direction depending on your settings.

And I strongly recommend Target Camera over Focus Camera. Keeping your camera continually locked onto the monster will fuck up your ability to target specific body parts.

Alright I'll try that. Combat just feels weird for me. Maybe I need to look at different control schemes, but combat does not feel as fluid as I thought itd be. Its very comboy, but not in a DMC kinda way.

It can feel a bit awkward at first. What weapon are you using?

fluid is the last word i would use to describe MHW combat, and dual blades are by far the fluidiest. when you start heading up to the bigger stuff it's downright ponderous (but verr rewarding when you land the perfect wind-up shot right on their big monst snout)

If you go Lance I suggest these vids:

The first vid is a good starter guide and will give you wome basic tips/strategies for using your lance. The 2nd vid as it says is more in depth which does a better job covering your options for maneuvering and a better job stringing your attacks.

I dunno, maybe I’m just shitty with dual blades but honestly switchaxe always felt the most fluid to me.

I'm terrible with dbs, everyone says they are a great beginner weapon but I don't see it.

Long sword is life. It's like cheating sometimes.

Yeah I don't think they're really that friendly due to the short range and the later combos can animate lock you and really fuck you up with a bad mistiming
