2017 NHL Offseason Thread - Phil Kessel Signed a Baby

Hawks receive Connor Murphy and Laurent Dauphin from the Yotes who receives Nikla Hjalmarsson

[Melena]

Doesn't change anything really; you just push the issue back a foot and the front edge of the blueline will have the same close calls.

Also rip Neal. So behind on hockey/everything from move to SF in conjunction with work travel. Should have internet tomorrow and fully moved in today.

Where in San Francisco are you living? Last I looked at rent out there, you need to be making six figures just to afford a card board box outside one of the gay bars in the castro.

Haws send Artemi Panarin and Tyler Motte to the LUMBUS for Brandon Saad et Anton Forsberg

Wow. That's interesting. Someone have a good idea of why hawks would do that???

They resigned him for 6mil a year. Why trade him????

The end of a dynasty. Why not go down in flames and question marks.

Raanta and Stepan apparently going to Rags for 7th and Deangelo is what I'm hearing.

[Brill Weave]

Some weird fucking moves going on today.

Hawks shedding a ton of salary it seems

Not really. They only lost Hjalmarsson's salary. Panarin and Saad are a wash. Oh wait didn't they lose Kruger and the other Van Riemsdyk?

[Brill Weave]

Oh and that BS with Hossa. Nevermind I'm an idiot.

[Vaspinne]

Panarin was signed for another 2 years at $6mil per. And Hjalmarsson at $4mil for another couple seasons I think. That's $10m in salary in the last hour they dropped lol

Edit: errr... didn't realize Saad was also $6mil for the next three. So yeah, my bad

[Ceberoth]

Still confused... Didn't panarin and Kane play well together??? Why bring back Saad...

That's what I'm wondering. Panarin had 31 goals and 43 assists last year. That's pretty damn good

[Vaspinne]

Lebrun/Mackenzie think it's because Chicago won't be able to extend either Panarin or Hjarlmarsson in 2 years time when their contracts are up because of how fucked they are financially lol. So they got rid of them for players on longer contracts

Reports saying coach Q was in a team meeting at a hotel. Got in a cab and left abruptly during. Sounds like some drama is unfolding.

Without having Kane there to feed him the pick and vice versa, will be interesting to see if Panarin is really as good as his numbers show or if it was just a result of playing with someone else of such high caliber

[Ratatapa]

Confirm Rangers trade Stepan and Raanta to the Yotes for Anthony DeAngelo

And the 7th overall pick from today's draft (NYR getting ARI's 1st rounder)

Also, Hamonic is still getting shopped around and the asking price is still ridiculously too high
