Unless just making gunbuying a pain in the ass (waiting period, registration, etc) would have dissuaded him.

How so? The kid shot up the school and then walked out wearing a school sweater like he was another innocent bystander.

The scary part too, is that students were running down to the local WALMART when they realized shots were popping off. The WALMART they felt safe running to is past the school football field, behind an adjacent middle school.

Explain how introducing more guns to this scenario would help? You got the shooter walking out with students, all while actual scared shitless students are running through open football fields, THROUGH ANOTHER SCHOOL to get to a WALMART to feel safe.

In the fox news scenario, they're implying that the kid shooting wouldn't have made it out alive, because a teacher would have shot him. Ideally would have shot him before the body count climbed to the double digits.

Hence why I said it was a truth (and a skewed one at that) If Mr. Pojam (the history teacher for 10-12th grades) had a pistol on him, and shit face walked in and started firing, and the teacher shot and killed/disabled shit face before MORE students got shot, then yes, it is true to say " it wouldn't have been as bad if some of the teachers had been carrying."
But there's an infinite amount of what if's

Be upset about the ulterior motive to saying something like " it wouldn't have been as bad if some of the teachers had been carrying." , not about a hypothetical truth.

Of course I just meant stopping him from buying guns in general, we obviously could make buying assault rifles illegal like they used to be.

AR-15 is a type of "military style" rifle, generally considered to be an "assault rifle" (which has no fixed definition really).

Legally when assault rifles were banned, they banned guns with a certain set of characteristics, as well as banning specific models (and specifically exempting models of hunting rifles they didn't want banned).

Criteria of an assault weapon

Under the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 the definition of "semiautomatic assault weapon" included specific semi-automatic firearm models by name, and other semi-automatic firearms that possessed two or more from a set certain features:[13]

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:

Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Bayonet mount
Flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
Grenade launcher

It's entirely possible (and manufacturers did) make military "style" semi-auto black rifles that were legal to sell, and some models of AR-15s are like that - although I believe the AR-15 "model" (which has a number of different manufacturers) was banned by name in that legislation.

Semi-auto hunting rifles could mostly do the same job, although magazine size is the primary limitation under a ban.

So we just need teachers trained as well as swat teams! Perfect!

Also, how are you still hung up on snapchat? Videos/exposure of what shit is like is good. Coping mechanisms for the kids are good. Its not like people were fighting off the attackers before snapchat was a thing. And its not like these kids were running up to the shooter and taking selfies. They were hiding under their desks and communicating with the world.
