There was proof back in the GamerGate days of 8-chan having underage items posted by people fighting against them. I'd have to go digging, and I don't particularly care enough to do that. 8-chan/4-chan aren't sites that I visit. My understanding is that they started to pop up when Reddit started enacting changes to their site and 4-chan splintered off, then when 4-chan started to enact similar changes 8-chan was created. I'm more than willing to admit my history is incorrect in that.

I mean unless they verify every post on Reddit, there's no way to prove someone posting nudes is above the legal age. I'm talking more about situations where someone is say a year or two off. I mean, for young kids that look like young kids it's pretty apparent. For teenagers who maybe hit puberty a little early, it may be a little more difficult.

Your proof of shifting definitions of hate speech is troll site 8chan getting trolled into child porn by troll site 4chan, who was trolled by reddit who is the real holder of CP?

I just don't get your logic...or your point.

I mean, I can think of Kevin's Harts comments right off the top of my head. There are plenty of words that were okay to say when I was in junior high/high school that aren't now-a-days. "That's so Gay" or using Retarded was common place when I went to school. I get why they are no longer accepted as appropriate things to say and I don't use them anymore.

I recall 8chan being around long before Reddit got any major traction unless I'm thinking of another chan. The chan I'm thinking of was known for CP and this was around 2010? Maybe earlier.

So a couple words change in connotation from when you were in school, and you accept that, but now that you're older you think that that could never happen again? Give me an example of a word that wasn't bad when we were kids but "just became bad" recently because of PC culture lol. I assure you it was still bad back then, people just didn't care about the people who were hurt by it.

And I would say not picking a side is the problem. When white people chant "Jews will not replace us", are you gonna stand back and not pick a side? When white politicians put up a picture of a Muslim politician with the caption "this is proof that America forgot" over a picture of 9/11, are you going to stand back and not pick a side?

Sorry man, if you stand for nothing then what will you fall for?

Right, and that's why I'm understanding to why things change. My problem is when those things that are no longer acceptable are then going to be used as a reason to defend aggression against an individual who has moved beyond that way of thinking.

So we attack an entire group based on a minority group among them? If that's the case, then you're justifying every single bit of anger/ire that every group gets. Every single group has extremists that take things too far and do bad things. If you're going to allow yourself to be swayed into thinking the entire group as a whole should be written off because of how that smaller group acts then you're part of the problem.

    edit:
I haven't been following the thread from the beginning but I have a feeling that this conversation is going in a direction not for the thread so I'll stop responding for a bit.

Color me surprised that you find calling out white nationalism the same as calling out all white people...lol.

Nah son, I'm just calling out white nationalists, and people who think there's nothing wrong with white nationalism so they don't pick a side when discussing them.

Color me surprised you'd think I'm specifically defending white people because the examples you provided were specifically providing stated their skin color in them.

Apparently I have to go on record specifically stating that I disagree with white nationalists and what they believe.

Actually this started with you saying hate speech has a shifting definition, and then offering up as evidence the fact that 8chan/4chan get baited into posting CP because of...reddit? Like I said, your logic didn't make sense so idk what it was you were trying to say lol.

All I'm saying is a lot of people put forth a lot of effort so they don't have to just call out white nationalism, or worse they put forth a lot of effort so they can both sides white nationalism.

Seeing Vandalhart post is the definition of someone who believes in nothing but somehow both sides are bad, makes all these claims about.... any topic but doesn't care enough to back them up while spending hours debating the topic he doesn't care about. He's just protecting the status quo and change scares him.

I'm sorry if my rambling was confusing. It seems you've taken two separate points and combined them into one. I'm willing to take the blame on that, but since I quoted two portions of the same post separately I would have though people would see that. My bad.

    First:
8-chan was found guilty of hosting CP, which, which was found out was put there by the same people who made the claim.
My statement after was that Reddit, if investigated, could very well have instances of minors posting or being posted as well.

I was not trying to insinuate that Reddit was behind it. It was mainly that I'm sure they didn't mind the other two splinter sites were being brought forward in a negative way.

    Second:
I understand where you're coming from, please don't try to lump me into whatever group you're trying to. I'm me, I have my own personal opinions and stances on things that are ever evolving and changing. So please don't attack me because you've pre-defined me a certain way.

I'm very skeptical of many things people say in general. I'm also willing to change my mind about things after I've reflected on them.

    edit:
sheesh, it seems Milkster knows me better than I do. I'm glad I can be told who I am and how I think. It really takes a load off the ol noggin.

You say you understand where were coming from, but then say hate speech has a moving definition.

Because what is covered as hate speech changes as new terms and groups are added. It's not the same as it was.

It's always been the same but the majority didn't care about the minority and used slurs anyway.

Maybe its changing cause we care about more people and races instead of the usual one or two. What matters is how that speech is being used to keep down other races, not that "look at all these races upset that this language is being used to keep them down in society when I've been using it my whole life with no problem".

3 dead & 9 injured in an tram shooting in Utrecht, Netherlands by a Turkish national.

A gunman killed three people and wounded nine others on a tram in the central Dutch city of Utrecht on Monday morning in what the mayor said appeared to be a terror attack, touching off a manhunt that saw heavily armed officers with dogs zero in on an apartment building close to the shooting.

A few hours after the shooting, Utrecht police released a photo of a 37-year-old man born in Turkey who they said was "associated with the incident." The photo showed a bearded man on board a tram, dressed in a dark blue hooded top.

Police warned citizens not to approach the man, whom they identified as Gokmen Tanis, but call authorities instead.

Maryland man arrested for planning a truck attack at the National Harbor in the name of ISIS. He would have attacked sooner, but the crowds weren't large enough to meet his expectations.

The allegation was made in a court filing as prosecutors in Maryland urged a judge to keep the defendant, 28-year-old Rondell Henry, detained on a charge of driving a stolen vehicle across state lines. The police arrested him on March 28 after officers who discovered the stolen truck saw him leap over a security fence.

"I was just going to keep driving and driving and driving. I wasn't going to stop," the document quotes Henry as telling law enforcement authorities who questioned him. He said he wanted to create "panic and chaos" similar to a deadly truck attack that killed scores of people in Nice, France, in 2016, prosecutors say.

The government's six-page detention motion describes Henry as harboring hatred for "disbelievers" and looking to emulate Islamic State militants he saw on beheading videos and fighting overseas. On his phone, which prosecutors say he discarded on a highway in an apparent attempt to conceal evidence, authorities found images of the ISIS flag, armed ISIS fighters and the man who carried out the massacre in an Orlando, Fla., nightclub three years ago.

The document alleges that Henry, a computer engineer, walked off his job in the middle of the day on March 26 and stole a U-Haul van from the parking garage of a mall in Virginia after determining that his four-door sedan "would not cause the catastrophic damage that he desired."

He first considered an attack at Dulles International Airport, trying unsuccessfully over two hours to breach the security perimeter by slipping in through a checkpoint or accessing a restricted area, prosecutors said.

From there, he headed to National Harbor — a waterfront complex of restaurants, retail and hotels in Maryland.

"But so early in the morning on a weekday," prosecutors wrote, "the defendant did not find the sizable crowd upon which he desired to inflict his radical conduct."

Henry broke into a boat, hiding there overnight, and was arrested on the morning of March 28 when he leaped over the security fence from the boat deck, according to the detention motion.
