The best option for who? Koreans? Vietnamese? Cubans? Iraqis? Russians? Iranians? Chinese? Palestinians? Kosovans? Afghanis? Kurds? Any fucking country in Central or South America? The answer there is no to all of the above.

Why would that be a nightmare? Because instead of dictating the world order at the expense and exploitation of these nations it would now come at your expense? Well, maybe you guys get the point now of why any imperialism should be rejected. Not just when other nations like Russia engage in it or it isn't to your benefit.

I think what Spicy is saying is why limit ourselves when the next great calamity could allow a new hegemony to emerge [or disappear].

The US is currently going through the shock of experiencing an unprecedented decline in it's ability to project soft power. From the 90s to the very early 10s, realistically there be only one option to list there, and that's the USA. Forget the "there is no 4th option" stupidity, there wasn't even a second or third then. So I don't want anyone pulling that "USA isnt currently a declining empire because it can project the greatest hard power in the world" shit.
