Having been raised in a Hispanic Roman Catholic home, I know absolutely nothing about Protestants, Pentecostals, Baptists, etc. This shit is all so confusing on who belongs to who and does what lol.
I used to know more when I was dating a Catholic girl but it all kinda fell to the wayside in the past few years. She, of course, was VERY concerned with what other people believed and what they called themselves.
having been raised in a Hispanic Roman Catholic home i feel compelled to say 10 hail marys every time a woman takes her clothes off in front of me
I learned a lot when I went to a "nondominational" Christian group my freshman year of college. I made a couple good friends there, but there was a whole lot of people trying to convert me otherwise I was going to Hell for being a Catholic.
Generally speaking protestant sects take both the old and new testament literally, believe in the power of prayer, and believe it is their mission to speak the word of God to others, while generally speaking Catholics take the old testament figuratively, believe in the power of good deeds, and use those good deeds as a way to spread the word.
There's a bunch of other differences, too, just those are what stand out to me, especially since the protestant side has branched out a bunch.
Catholics get to cannibalize their savior while getting tipsy, checkmate heretics.
Some Catholics hate Orthodoxy/Protestant Christians. A Confirmation leader running the classes 20 years back now got found out to be a Protestant. The kids in the class didn't care. The parents on the other hand went witch hunting. Kinda fucked up when they all learning about Jesus & God almost all the same.
Orthodox are wildly different than protestants.
I don't think there are many catholics who hate orthodox. They are actually rather similar.
I went (and was baptized at) to a Greek orthodox church when I was little since there were no Coptic (Egyptian Orthodox) churches near us. But we didn't speak Greek so my mom convinced my dad to have us go to the Catholic church instead (she is Irish Catholic). I don't feel like there was really all that much of a difference in experiences between the two. My sister takes her kids now to the same Greek church as she likes the families there.
ymmv
Orthodoxy is VERY different from and closer to Catholicism than Protestantism.
jesus fuck who cares they're all making shit up
