"Your offense to my offense is, frankly, offensive."
When I was in japan shopping for beanies some of the stores would be blasting music that had some variation of nigga on repeat throughout. People who have most likely never even seen a black person and have no historical context for the word were having this word added to their very limited lexicon of english words. Basically hi, sorry, i dont know, and nigga in the list of words they felt able to say correctly. Right now you have white babies listening to mommy and daddy's spotify otw to groceries or daycare hearing hiphop on replay before they can even talk, I wouldn't be surprised if nigga ended up being in the first 1-50 words they end up learning. White girls in middle america suburbia are listening to hiphop which is the #1 music in the country, hearing this word constantly, viewing the singers, the culture etc as the coolest shit ever the same way they view the kardashians. These are white girls surrounded by other white girls at cheer camp who most likely can't tell you when the war of 1812 was fought, who idolize the black rappers they hear singing their favorite songs while singing along to them verbatim.
Hiphop and rap normalizes nigga for all who listen to it given enough time, you don't want white people saying it then at the very least make it less prevalent in the music they listen to daily.
you guys realize there isn't a national consortium of black people who decide what goes into Cardi B's songs right
like Fetty Wap doesn't sit down with the girl who got upset on Twitter and go over his diction
it's almost like the group titled 'black people' consists of various individuals with differing views on appropriate language and this white rationale of "well if it's in hip hop songs no one is ever allowed to get upset when i say it!" is beyond bizarre.
as previously mentioned i ain't black but i watched too much Chappelle as a kid and spent too much time on basketball courts in East LA to not drop it almost reflexively in daily language. no one's ever gotten upset at me for doing so (Hispanic basketball player privilege) but if they did i'd just be like oh my b i won't say it around you if it makes you uncomfortable. not sure why that is considered such a high hurdle.
I'm just saying don't be shocked at its relative normalization due to prevalence. I would never want a national consortium to impede the creative works of rae sremmurd and fetty.
Spoiler: show
My grandma used the word negro(which is the italian version if nigger). She was shocked when I told her that was offensive. She wasn't racist, the word was just normal when she was young and she never knew it turned into a slur at some point down the line.
That is to say innocent ignorance can be forgiven if it's willing to be educated.
Malicious intent or refusal to get a grip about context and manners make you a racist.
Besties can do playful insults with each other and be cool. If you do that with somebody else don't be shocked if it's not acceptable.
That be context.
I once used the term porch monkey in racially mixed company because I'd never heard it before Clerks 2 and thought Kevin Smith had invented it as a gag racist term.

Lynne DiSanto, S.D. GOP's majority whip in the House uploaded in a public Facebook post said, "All lives splatter. Nobody cares about your protests. Keep your ass out of the road."
So this happened... and holy shit look at her trying to side step it implying people misinterpreted it because of the political climate.
Are you telling me that, for the rest of my life, I have to be mindful of the things I say and when and where I say them?
Well that's how the Latin rooted languages use as an identifier for a black individual. My Costa Rican teacher got a lesson when he immigrated to California. Said "Hola negro" to a group of black people and got all the stink faces. The US is culturally made negro and all other derivatives taboo. You can be in Mexico and call a black person negro in Spanish and no one would give a damn.
In spanish yeah that's the word for black. In italian for some reason the spanish word turned into a slur at some point. The proper word for black here is nero.
Speaking of systemic racism though: in Italy the boogeyman is literally called the black man. Children are scared one generation after another from the idea of a black man lmao.
Imagine being this woman's husband and having to listen to her screeching every day.
On the real, I'd say most black people are ok with Asians and Hispanics saying nigga. Sorry white people. You made that bed, now lay in it.
The lady with the dog kinda has a point though. My son is allergic to dogs so I'd ask about getting moved or just leave.
While I don't know the exact etymology of it's usage not being Italian and all it might have historical reasons. While not all were precisely "black" The Moors of mostly Northern Africa did kind of conquered large swathes of Spain and parts of southern Italy and all of Sicily. Then bloody centuries reconquering they kind of became the enemy.
