The issue as it's been presented in the past is that male soldiers would, when in danger, be more inclined to protect the female then fellow males in similar situations. Something something protecting the fairer sex yadda yadda.

I don't think it's a valid argument when we're talking about said female being in charge of the unit, but that's how this kind of stuff has been argued against in the past.
