Why do people think kneeling during the national anthem is disrespecting the military?
It's like people turned it into something else and then got mad at that.
I was. My cousin on my father's side is arguing with me on FB about how he won't watch the pats anymore due to the statement released. This is an uncle btw who has never been in the military, has no blood relatives who have ever been in the military, and the only relations he has who have actually served is my mother's family who are a bunch of bleeding heart liberals.
But yeah he's going on and on about "disrespecting our country" babble.
Conservative Asian parents, they don't watch sports. I'm not sure if I'd call them far right but they were pretty adamantly against flag disrespect/kneeling despite never watching a baseball or football game in their lives.
Someone on Facebook said "this is why the NHL is the best because their players never kneel during the national anthem"
I said it's because they are Canadian and mostly white.

The Pittsburgh Steelers — mostly — opted not to participate in the national anthem prior to Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
Left tackle Alejandro Villanueva, a former Army Ranger and graduate of West Point, visibly stood outside the tunnel at Soldier Field with his hand over his heart during The Star-Spangled Banner while his teammates remained under cover inside the stadium.
Several Steelers coaches, including head coach Mike Tomlin, stood on the Pittsburgh sideline at attention during the anthem while the Bears stood arm in arm on their side of the field.
No one I know of does conservative or elswise. I think it might be a regional thing; I find the concept of standing while watching the anthem on tv pretty odd; the distinction I and everyone I know of would draw is that you stand... if you're there, actually at the game. If you're not there, you don't stand.
But maybe I just don't have a good sample. in any case, obvious faux outrage is obvious.
@_@ shits p. cringe mate
yall think some people out there kneeling at home before the games lol?
im sitting here literally lol at the idea of either
The magic of the anthem is diminished when transmitted over long distances electronically.
Ask any scientist.
