considering the conviction of your last few posts I admire your honesty in admitting you only skimmed it. You'll see plenty of pieces out there supporting his argument and many pieces acknowledging the differences between men and women but still shitting all over his posts with other scientific studies. Many arguing it foolish to not consider social influences, which will always be a sticking point on this board.

As with anything that isn't cut and dry it depends on whose "facts" you are gonna show up with (lets call this the Shapiro Gambit).

The studies I find most compelling show that men are less likely to seek treatment and more likely to self medicate. Interesting that people are willing to declare the gender more likely to commit suicide rather than seek treatment is better at dealing with stress.

I certainly admire how delicately he worded his arguments but think he included a lot of silly things. He I think he too easily brushed off discrimination in an industry plagued by sexism in favor of arguing that MAYBE it's slight gender differences in neuroticism, agreeableness, and ability to negotiate salary.

But what the fuck do I know, I just think its dumb to cause drama in the workplace!

I was convinced on the parts I read and what little he said/agreed to in the interview. Which is more than I can say for some adding things completely unsaid lol. But thing is kind of a mess to read fully.

Of course almost anything can be argued a few different ways with different subsets of facts to back them up. Partly because humans in find facts are by nature biased but also shit is complicated. And in those situations that's what you do. You bring up differing prove and such instead we get the very unwillingness to actually discuss it that he mentions somewhere in there. Or to blatantly misrepresent what he said also something frequent on this board

Well you're only better at dealing with stress until you aren't. There are certainly some pros and cons to just brushing off and/or being expected to brush off stressors.

Thing is according to his story at least he's experienced the exact opposite end of the sexism spectrum. And certainly are cases of such.

I don't think his goal was actually trying to cause drama. At least according to his story he saw something kind of messed up and was like wtf up with this and then went further down that rabbit hole. On the other hand saying your work echo chamber that silences dissenters is only really gunna end one way.

Archi and I are speaking in hypotheticals with every variable stripped away except for diversity of thought, diversity of sexes, and the difference in sexes (roadblocks, as archi put it). And in my example diversity of thought, sexes, the roadblocks, and their relation to performance - except I grant that diversity of thought is a result of diversity of sexes and that diversity of thought will result in increased performance (neither of which I think are so easy to assume in the real world)

Depends on the ones. Some just want there cake and eat it too.

Others it's more liking something but still not liking some of the possible consequences. I mean I like freedom as much as the next guy but I sure as hell kind of wish I could stop people from doing shit I don't like. Life is complicated with some give and take. People tend to focus on just one side at a time though. So don't you worry I'm sure the people complaining about this soon enough will be championing another instance of it happening and vice versa. Probably about cakes
