You breathe chemical-infused steam. The hookah also involves burning something to infuse the water, which is the step that vape cartridges take out of it, but the idea is the same and in neither case are you technically "breathing smoke."

This is just not true. You inhale an insane amount of smoke during hookah sessions.

Vape juices are basically sugar water heated with a coil until they are a vapor.

Shisha is tobacco in molasses that burns with coals and is run through water at the bottom of the hookah. Definitely different.

Also, idk about you guys but I always used a hookah outside. Hookah dens are for suckers.

I have no interest in saying vapes are totally safe. I just think it's silly to use hookahs as a comparison because hookahs are far far more terrible for you.

This was a direct result of Big Tobacco lobbying in an attempt to shut down vaping since it was a clear danger to their margins. Some regulation of the industry is a good thing (since up to that point it was a wasteland of zero regulation), but FDA went pretty overboard with it.

I doubt anyone is under the impression that vaping is healthy, but it's one of the least dangerous options (and comparatively cheap to stuff like cigarettes) around to feed that sweet sweet nicotine addiction.

I don't understand how this is enforceable? Do you have police that patrol your apartment building?

For the record, the FDA didn't "go overboard on it" without considering the consequences. They took the only available step to regulate it (using existing legislation), because Republicans have controlled Congress for the last 7 years and thus there was no "Vaping Isn't Quite As Bad As Smoking Regulatory Act of 2013." When they said they were regulating it using that particular law, all the associated rules that were put in place for cigarettes transferred over. The alternative was to not regulate it, which is probably what is actually happening right now.

I don't really care that much, as I don't deal with vapers on a regular basis, but in 20 years when we have a huge rash of lung failure in this country because idiots dosed themselves with formaldehyde for over a decade, some fraction of my taxes will go to pay for the bernie's-zombie-care of vapers.

When my wife and I moved a few years ago and were apartment searching there were some places that had very strict smoking rules. I think it's one of those things where it's the "you don't like it go elsewhere".

Cigarettes are easier to place when you're smoking them indoors. They leave more of an odor, discolor walls and other items, etc. I don't think vaping has the same effect.

It would be up to the person/company leasing the space to determine if there was smoking indoors, or for neighbors to report it.
