A lotta people are raging at the way this arc is going. They're stupid.

They're questioning why the hook of the gang getting out of this jam is Sanji baking a cake & suddenly Big Mom is supposed to forgive everything.

But they gotta understand how Oda works. The entire time OP has been going he's been building a legacy & reputation in the world and among other pirates for the Straw Hats. Sanji being the Pirate King's master chef, who could bring Big Mom to her knees with his cooking, is absolutely part of the formula.

I can see Sanji getting a new wanted posted based on this, since people know he's a Vinsmoke now (and also that he's wanted dead or alive again).

Anyway, chapter thoughts:

I feel like the arc is going kind of slow? I hope they dont show any of the cooking stuff and instead focus on the SH's and the fighting there until the cake is done.

I feel like a lot of the arc is kind of drawn out and suffering, but at least its 100% guarenteed to get BIG NEWS about them and seeing that happen is always one of the best parts of One Piece.

The first time Pedro set foot on Whole Cake Island, he gave 50 years of his life. This time, he gave the rest of it. Hopefully it was enough to knock Peros unconscious & release Brook & Chopper from the candy.

There's a LOT of speculation now that Carrot is joining the crew, and a nice additional historical nugget.

And ofc, on break next week. Don't really have a problem with it tho cuz there's the double anime episode featuring Luffy vs. Sanji!

Chapter was great. But considering the only characters who have actually died in this manga so far are Ace and Whitebeard (to actual attacks in real time, not due to age or during a flashback or etc), I won't believe Pedro has died until it's 100% confirmed in the manga lol. Pell in Alabasta took a big bomb blast and survived, Sabo in the flashback took a big bomb/cannon blast and survived too. So yeah, week break cliffhanger sucks hard lol.

I was hoping for it to be 100% fighting this chapter but the dialog and everything that happened was pretty good. Heres hoping the NEXT chapter is more of the fight. Pfft.

Gonna finally start binge reading one piece from volume 1.

I understand a lot of it is interchangeable with the anime and if I get bored of reading I can switch back and fourth between the two. Is that true? Otherwise are there parts I should definitely be watching instead of reading or should I just power through it Manga only?

I always thought the One Piece anime is really good, if you skip the many silly fillers..I mean, they can be funny too, but they really disrupt the story.

I knew it was good it's just a matter of the volume of episodes and the time commitment it would take to do anime only. I redid FMA brotherhood recently and that took me like two to three weeks and is only a few dozen episodes.

At some point the anime just gets too slow. There's no good room for fillers so they just start slowing down the progress and showing every character reacting 10x to things. That's when you go full on manga.

I think around the New World stuff the anime slowwwwwwws down. I think it's around the time they got rid of the anime endings. At that point I would just go to reading, unless you really enjoy seeing peoples reactions to everything. The anime is fine at the start, there's minimal filler (compared to other shonen). You can also just get a guide and it tells you what to skip.
