Jury is still out on whether Zoro is Ushimaru's son but his age lines up with the timeline, being born 1 year before Oden and Ushimaru died. If anything he is at least related considering he grew up in Shimotsuki Village and his teacher is related to Ushimaru and Ryuma as well. Possible that Zoro left Wano as a child and ended up in the only other place the Shimotsuki's settled.
