It's chapters like this one that really makes me appreciate Oda's attention to detail. Going over things and giving explanations why characters made the choices they did 500 chapters ago. Such great story telling

Think this was an awkward translation, exacerbated by how Netflix has advertised it thus far(reserving the right to cancel Im sure), but allegedly per Jump Festa the team said "This project is to redraw the animation of One Piece from the East Blue as a modern anime."
The key word is "from" indicating its the starting point, they go further to say it's a very long project, which wouldn't really apply if it were just East Blue.

I also feel like there's no way Kuma leaves Egghead alive. Bonney's growth pmuch requires it.
