He'll undoubtedly be a crucial character this arc, of the Carrot/Yamato caliber. For me, the fact Oda has Zoro up-front stating the obvious logistical issue of his size/literally not fitting on the Sunny makes Loki an even stronger candidate for joining the crew than Carrot/Yamato, since Oda loves setting up impossible odds and subverting expectations in comedic ways like that. We'll see!
