Is Fire Emblem worth picking up for someone who hasn't played a game in the series before? The only tactical RPG I've played is FFT which I loved.
Three Houses is a pretty good game if you like tactical RPGs. No requirement of playing any other game in the series to be able to jump right in. School environment and inter-personal relationships are just right and never boring.
My only complaint was that I played on Normal and found it quite easy overall.
normal is so fuckin easy if you have any talent at the genre at all jack it up to the highest difficulty
but ye it's a fine mix of tactical RPG / Personay social simulator
you should also emulate Tactics Ogre one day if you loved FFT, lot of the same team that worked on FFT (Matsuno directed them back-to-back) and some stan it as the superior game.
Yeah, that was my big complaints as well. The game has three campaigns and the school stuff was an annoyance during my first campaign, and then got worse in next.
How different is each campaign? Actually worth playing the game 3x?
first half of each route will be mostly identical, second half of each will be d r a s t i c a l l y different in regards to the story and what you actually experience (there are actually 4 major branching paths not 3) but the battle maps and such will mostly be reused with a handful of unique ones sprinkled on each path.
Each campaign has its own house leader that is unique to that route, one of the campaigns is more unique than the other two/three. I say two/three since there is technically 4 routes you can play totally, one of them is a route within one of the campaigns. Each one is separate yes but playing after the first time you get subtle hints on why things are the way they are with certain characters that you don't really get in the other routes.
Make sure you are using the PSN website (store.playstation.(whatever)) and grabbing your PS5 PS+ games and possibly making your purchases.
I've been doing it for a discord channel, I'm gonna try to remember to put it here as well.
