Steam/Switch/ios versions have boosters that allows you to turn random encounters off, all abilities/magic on max, increase movement speed, max damage etc. If you are playing for the story they may help you reduce the grind.

there's a graphics mod that overhauls the game and crushes anything emulation can provide. it is staggering how much better it looks than the original.

The remaster version is leaps and bounds better, if only for the quality of life changes that do what the emulators helped with, but better. Was also free on game pass last I checked
