I love Chrono Cross to death but the universe in which it was created made it great, not so much the actual gameplay itself because the battle system was kind of a chore.

It's seriously a shame SE ain't do more with the series.

I actually grew to love the battle system more over time. It's unique and I have never played anything else like it.

My only complaint nowadays is that everything moves so slow (animations, characters, etc.). I almost always have it running at double speed on emulator

That's an issue that plagues even modern jRPGs. Thankfully more and more games add a built-in turbo feature of some sorts

Loved that game so much as a kid. Good timing on it's release cause it felt almost like Pokemon catching all the shiryu or whatever they were called. I only remember Spoon and yelling spoooooon with my friend whenever we used it.

Legend of Legaia was great.

Even though it paled storywise, I still liked its follow up on PS2. Gameplay wise I still remember it being fun. . even if the plot was more generic.

Any input from anyone on if XIII-2 and 3 are worth it for $10 each? Never had a PS3 to play them, was always a little curious what they did to justify sequels.

Both are solid games. I actually just bought Lightning Returns because I never finished it.

However, according to the steam reviews XIII-2 is a horrendous port and you basically roll the dice on how often it will crash. Could be worth trying out and maybe refunding if the reviews are true? I'd definitely recommend LR though, quirky but fun game.

Personally, I think XIII-2 is better than 1 gameplay wise.
Story wise... if X-2 made you turn your nose up, XIII-2 will as well. I didn't have a problem with it, but I have a high tolerance.

Afaik there are fan made patches that fix most of the technical issues
