FFXI free to play for returners begins on Friday
I've been meaning to do my combined Honour run with achievements. Honour is supposedly much easier if you go full evil with your choices, but knowing that is the path that awaits me has sort of cooled me off about doing it. I liked so many of the character arcs from the good path that would be lost.
Just hit what would be disc 3 on FFVIII. This is historically where I've lost interest so I'm gonna try and push through.

I started FFVIII remaster as my break game between my current grinding game (Rivals), and it's a slog... haven't even gotten through Disc 1.
FWIW this isn't a "Didn't age well" thing. In addition to playing remasters for FFT, Super Mario RPG, Lunar, and Saga Frontier, I also played OG FFVII right before Rebirth came out. FFVIII just fails to grab my attention.
i'm going Resist Durge and just got to Act 3. some horrific shit has gone down that not reloading has been tuff to live with (sorry about that portal closing on you Halsin / murdering you innocent kitty cat) but it ain't so hard a game when you know what's coming and how to build characters. just always have potions of invisibility / misty steps on hand to get the fuck outta combat experiences that go south.
resist durge is by far my favorite way to experience the game narratively speaking. best mainchar story BG3 has to offer.
Discovered final fantasy xi Braver. It's an rpg maker style ffxi spinoff(prequel?) that takes place 10 years after the defeat of the Shadowlord.
Got it setup on the steam deck in like 30 minutes, from download to keypad config and launch. So far it's just nostalgic and charming all the way down.

its great, and gets pretty damn hard. guys been working on it for years and it shows
I literally just discovered this game 3 days ago, was gonna ask if people here knew if it was any good or not.

would recommend, it's definitely a great 2d love letter to ffxi, decent job system and challenging fights, fairly well written for a fan project too

On their discord. I followed this and the setup was pretty smooth. Hardest part was remapping the controls to match the deck buttons
Dang I might have to check this out.
for those in the know thinkin of working through some of Sony's first party backlog alongside BG3's unending Honour run, would yall reccomend Horizon Zero Dawn or Ghosts of Tsushima head to head (+ their sequels if one hits)
Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West are both great and have fantastic PC ports.
Can't speak on the sequel but I honestly got bored with Ghost of Tsushima after maybe like 10-15ish hours. The exploration got old and the underlying gameplay didn't have enough depth to keep me engaged
I've played both Horizons and just Tsushima. If you are looking for a longer adventure, go for Horizons. Tsushima for a shorter open world experience. I've heard Yotei is even better but haven't played it yet.
Hard to go wrong either way though.
