The base version of 6 on Steam is hot fucking garbage, but using Atma Weapon Installer to throw on mods (like A World Reborn, which is basically a complete graphic overhaul and removes all the mobile UI shit) is probably the best version to play.
Unrelated but got any screenshots of those mods in action? If it makes the game look decent and not something made in an RPG Maker I might consider it
I feel like if V was localized on the SNES, it'd be right up there with the other two for me. Just the time from them until the GBA re-release (didn't have a PS1 until far late), RPGs have changed/improved a ton since then.
SNES RPG wise, this reminds me I still need to beat 7th Saga, which I have a fond hatred for. I fired it up my cartridge of it couple years ago and was surprised my save data from two decades ago was still intact, grinded a little progress, then stopped. Such a god damn grindy game later on, farming once to max out your gold via sellable things, then grinding XP to level up to survive the trip to the next area you need to trek through. But oh no, god forbid you level up too much, since the NPCs that are your competition in the game level up with you as well, who you are forced to engage at times.
I started work on playing Legacy of Kain: Defiance this week. I forgot how atrocious its fixed camera angles were compared to the freedom you had in Soul Reaver 1 & 2. Combat is simple as I remembered it (not new for the series), but I'm enjoying it a lot. Will say, damn have the game's visuals aged gracefully, and its PC port has no problems running at 144hz 1080p to boot. It hits that mid-PS2 era sweet spot (imo) of clean texture work with no fancy post-effects (besides the one it uses for the spectral realm), and is animated well. It is just the game's art assets as they are presented, without any heavy shader/post-process shenanigans to add or detract from the scene.
It also makes me miss the fuck out of Tony Jay. The voice casting of the LoK series in general is perfection.
Thanks. Was hoping for a sprite overhaul since those still look ugly AF IMO
Anyway back on track been playing Sonic Mania on Switch and got to admit really loving it. Hopefully these guys make another Sonic game in this style.
Been replaying Xenoblade 2 for the past ~2 weeks or so. Finished it yesterday, so going back to my main file to finish an eventual 100%. It's kind of almost done (have all Blades now except for 4 quest ones which won't take long), just have quests, affinity charts and like left. Going to do replay the expansion as well. After that, not sure. Either replay of FFVIII (been around 3 years or so), or FFXIII, but kind of been hoping for an FFXIII port to PS4 before I did >.>
Or I can just do KH2FM Lv. 1 again for the like 4th time.
Total War Three Kingdoms has consumed my life and will not unconsume it until China is united under the great tiger banners of Sun Jian First of His Name
Picked up The Surge for $8. It's in a way Weird Souls so far. Plays very souls like but when you "level up" you do not level any specific skill. Not sure where I'm supposed to be going but everyone and everything wants me dead so OK I guess I'll kill you. Combat feels wonky but that's most likely my inexperience to the game.
Side note, my DS4 is all but dead. Won't keep a charge after testing with numerous cords and adapters to ensure it isn't my PC that's the issue. The thing is old. I don't think I've ever used the same controller for basically five years. Not sure if I want to roll the dice and replace the battery or maybe move to a Xbone controller. I like the feel of the DS4 more, but damn it if there aren't times where the DS4Tool isn't irritating AF and I just want something that (is at least supposed to) just works. Should've bought a Logitech controller when my local Walmart had them for like $10.
Deadwood movie must have inspired me, as I've finally put an honest effort into RDR2.
Not sure if I want to ask questions about things or try to figure out on my own. Mostly talking about all the extra stuff, and how much I should worry about x, y, z, not anything about progressing through the game. Mid-way through ch. 3 at this point. Actually, can you redo homestead quests? I got a little trigger happy on one and probably shouldn't have.
My favorite moment in the game was a bit of a random thing. I returned to camp and proceeded to get yelled at because I'd been gone for a while and not been bringing food back. Ok, what are all the other people doing if they're not bringing in food? Can't they hunt? I know Pearson can fish. This is something that I wasn't sure of early on and still curious about too, if I really had to bring in food often enough, or if I could bring in too much.
Why was I gone and not bringing in food? Uh... I was playing blackjack and sitting at that table in Rhodes for probably over a week igt. The feeling over and over seeing the sun rise because you're facing the windows always made me laugh. Anyway, the people at camp can go to hell. I turned that $4 buy-in into a couple hundred and donated most of it to buy those losers some food.
So, I casually downloaded Zanki Zero demo out of boredom, not expecting much because I watched some video and didn't really get excited by the game and... First of all, very surprised at the length of the demo, it did actually take some time to complete and included a nice amount of content. Secondly, wow was I hooked. And they choose the perfect cliffhanger moment to stop the demo, lol. Now I feel I want more, but at the same time I don't feel like it's a type of game that deserves this price tag... So I think I'll just have to hold out on some promo in the future.
Got the bug to "finish" Dark Souls 3 and after 428 hours every achievement is finished. Debating if I want to do DS2 SOTFS.
Been playing Tekken 7 but now after scoring bloodstained for under 9 bucks, that's probably going to be my obsession for the next couple of weeks

I got a game called Gris today on Steam and played it.
It is a pretty platformer with interesting pace. I beat it in basically one sitting but kind of want to replay it to get 100% so I can appreciate the random intricacy of the environment.
Slay the spire. Addicted as fuck. Amazing rogue card game. Fuck the Defect deck, still can’t get to final floor 50.

A long time ago FFXI helped me quit smoking. Figure I'll try XIV again in attempts to kick another bad habit. I bought XIV originally in early '14 I think it was. Played my 30 days and didn't sub. I recall it being a combo of bored and quite frankly I was still hung up on XI (my first and only MMO). I loaded it back up and I have two very low level jobs. I decided to just pick an area, go outside, and roam around. Holy shit is this game gorgeous. Fighting I'm going to have to get used to a bit, seeing the numbers above your character/enemy. Also, I can move out of the way of conal attacks wtf?!?! Yeah, I'm having fun.
I tried to get into to XIV again but I have a really hard time finding motivation to play solo. I joined the server my sister and brother in law were playing on, waited for them to catch up to me in the story, and then they passed the group encounter I was at without saying anything. My brother in law is kind of a dick so I guess I should have expected that.
FFXIV is fun and if I had time to dedicate to an MMO it would be that one. I have a 50+ paladin and bard, and some 40-50ish crafts (goldsmithing/carpenter).
For me I'm looking at it like the first time I was in XI. Just exploring solo. The thing is, I have not looked at one type of beginners guide or anything. I ended up in a zone with level 30 giant buffalo (love the fact the level is there) and steered clear! Also saw a level 50 gigantic something or other in the middle of some level 8 mobs.
I'll say I'm a little overwhelmed with the interface and what not but I think it's just the learning curve. I'm excited to play and to do something new. Even though I have a ton of other games to play I think right now XIV is something I need. Hey, if you even wanted to create a newb and mess around...I'm on Gilgamesh!
