It’s pretty hilarious when you think about it the entire first game Shep is running around like “What is the Citadel? Why are Asari blue? What’s Element Zero?! What’s it like being a Turian?” because the writers make him the conduit for giving the knowledge to the player but like…if dude made it N7 in the Alliance Navy without knowing the most basic shit he’d be like Forrest Gump level idiot savant.

Do take your time with it, it's a great great series. It isn't a slow game by any means, although the first one can be slow with planet exploration that they thankfully remove from the sequels. There is no other mass effect after this trilogy though so enjoy it for all its got. Prepare to feel feels for your crew.

agree with Salo it's an RPG to be savored, the lore and world are dope af (the codex is awesome to parse through), and the side content is mint, especially anything to do with your companions. be warned 1's gameplay is p damn janky but 2 and 3 are exponentially better there. and all three have ballin stories / companions / cinematic moments. besides BG2/ToB the trilogy is prolly the greatest thing Bioware ever accomplished.

Mass Effect trilogy was probably the first series I played when I built my new computer a few years ago and got game pass. Was amazing, and I loved how the DLC was integrated in such a way I had no idea I was doing DLC stuff.

Did it fix having to hit up the equipment menu to mash the gel button every 30 minutes of gameplay? Was the main thing I hated the most about the original PC release. (never got the hate for the Mako controls, unless PC version cleaned that up over the 360 version)
Then my dumbass picked up the trilogy for PS3 for $6 eons ago and never got around to checking out 2&3, and now I have multiple copies of Legendary because EA just keeps giving it out to every service imaginable.

I made it through the first mission and can confirm I was mashing buttons every encounter and did not figure out how to do much of anything besides shoot and rush up and smack people with my rifle.

playing the new dynasty warriors, saw it reviewed pretty well and i gotta say, im pleasantly surprised with it, they've added nice little touches that make it slightly less mindless but still maintains the silly musou scope. almost makes up for 9....almost

grabbed Nintendo Switch Online for lazy retro gaming and am working my way through the Donkey Kong Countries to start. got like 35% through 1 before realizing you can long jump by holding run and jump. do you suckas have any idea how hard some of these jumps were with the walking jump / how often i punched the air screaming MOTHERRRFUCKERRRRRRRR before this discovery

Donkey Kong Country is underrated as one of the greatest platformers of all time, unfortunately it was on the same system at the same time as Super Mario World so it was always going to be overshadowed.

When I started playing XI again, several times it happened that I did something and had no idea how because my fingers were punching keys completely from muscle memory.
