got that post-mastapiece emptiness after finishing Clair Obscur but finally finally finishing Red Dead Redemption 2. not sure how it slipped through the cracks all these years, only ever made it halfway.

also finishing my Last of Us franchise replay, just hit Day 2 with Abby. ol girl really ain't so bad in spite of it all. Owen and Manny are downright alright.

considering doing FFX remaster as well just cuz Clair is so clearly inspired by it.

Just getting into the swing of Clair Obscur, but bounce between that and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

it's a hell of a world/story to get lost in but Rockstar sure don't mind wasting some of your time in it. languid pace ain't always bad, works with the Western tone, but ya def a game you need the bandwidth to commit to for its 50-100 hour journey.

Had to take a break well into the game due to PS4 > PS5 transition.

The game looks phenomenal even today but getting back to it with a 60fps PS5 patch would be sweet…fingers crossed.

the ending of rdr1 was a lot more jarring to me. 2 at least tells you what’s going on with arthur and the gang as the story is progressing towards the end

I never played the first, so I initially thought the game was over after the last thing with Arthur, and was raging to my friend in Discord lol.

Will say this though, "The Way It Is" playing as you ride back to the camp last time as Arthur as the sun is going down was probably one of the most depressing experiences I've had with a game.

the main plot of rdr1 is basically the fbi kidnaps abigail and jack, and forces john to turn in/kill the rest of the gang; i don’t remember what caused the falling out between john and the gang. john does so, the fbi returns his family, and they go back to live out their days in their house that you built at the end of red dead 2. happy ending

and then the game actually ends with the fbi randomly showing up at the house and murdering john by shooting him approximately 100 times in a dead eye shootout you can’t win. abigail and jack bury john. “Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie” plays in the background

you do get a post-game quest where a teenage jack hunts down the two main fbi agents and kills them

yeah, my friend had me go watch the ending as at the time, there didn't appear to be any chance of the game brought to a modern console. Both games are just seriously fucked up.

I beat God of War (2018). Really kicking myself for not playing this earlier. Really awesome, although I think the game is really slow until Mimir comes into the story. I heard Mimir is one of the best things about GoW but I thought he was a Ragnarok character so i was delighted to interact with him. Reminded me of the relationship I had with my dad. I felt something when I saw Atreus turning into a punk and it was sad seeing that from a parents angle....especially since I saw and knew the good kid Atreus before he turned into the punk. My friends recommended me do post-game content because apparently the valkyryies are important to the lore or the sequel so I'll be doing that before going to Ragnarok.

I really loved the ending, it blew me away, the macguffin of the villain's weakness is something I forgot about and the setup for the sequel was just really freaking cool.

I also got through route 0 in Hundred Line Defense Academy. It was super long but I think thats going to be a good thing since I see all these events and choices over this long period so I'll apreciate the different routes. I got both endings on a particular story branch and now I'm working through another branch.

Really surprised how generous the skip battles are. Like, I did one battle in a route, and I expected for them to make me redo the battle in another route because several key characters arent there. And I think they'd be in their right to say "Nah, this battle is completely different without this unit so you gotta do it again".

I'm also finishing up Miles Morales: Spiderman. It looks absolutely incredible on my steam deck oled. One thing that kinda irks me is It's kinda weird they didnt rename the "venom" powers to something else considering Venom was coming down the pipeline in Spider-man 2. I get it, spiders also have venom so it works but still from a branding perspective I figured they might want to name em different.

God of War is one of the best games made in the past decade ya, absolute mastapiece. valks are some of the best fights in the game and def worth doing. Valkyrie Queen took me 4 hours to beat on Give Me God of War difficulty. longest a vidya fight has ever taken me along with Sword Saint Isshin.

Ragnarok is a little less tight but a very worthy sequel, high recommend doing the Valhalla DLC after finishing the main game. brings Kratos's story about in a beautiful full circle.

At the final boss of Metaphor and all I've been able to think while playing is 'Don't click on the expedition 33 thread' since that's next on my list

Metephor has been a great game though. 70ish hours for my first playthrough and did everything (I think) without a guide and had about 10 days to burn before the final dungeon. 7 or 8/10 for me

Love the combat system. It's not hard to brute force through the game but it feels so good when you really exploit a boss and steamroll a fight because you prepared right.

Didnt like how chat in the games would have a voice actor say small phrases that didn't match the text on screen at all. 70 hours in and I'm still not used to it

i had to take a point off for Atreus in Shrek's swamp section

but nah yeah the gameplay is a lil better, introduction of [redacted] helps with variety, set pieces still incredible. felt the story was a little more uneven tho. lot more moving parts and independent arcs, respect the ambition, but didn't quite come together holistically the way 2018's themes did.

mind you still excellent vidya. if God of War is 5/5 then Ragnarok is 4.5/5 or 4/5 if i'm feelin ornery u feel me

The great irony is that the Valkyrie fights in GOW are better than their berserker counterparts in Ragnarok but you must kill all the berserkers in order to unlock
