I absolutely loved the game. Every character plays differently and once you get past the story you kind of unlock boss rush multiplayer/grind mode

It should be worth 27 bucks it would just depend how populated endgame is at this point in time

As a long time Monster Hunter player, the endgame grind in Relink is horrendous.

But the main story path up to that point is a great time. As mentioned every character plays very differently which gives a lot of fun variety.

Yeah I did pick it up in the end, I like it so far. I do wish the combat was a bit more solid like Genshin; it feels a bit more loose than I usually enjoy, but that's a nitpick. Any game you where you grind resources to craft things and level up shit so you can then grind better resources and keep the cycle going is my thing

What makes the endgame grind so bad?

Shitty drop rates and a generally limited pool of viable fights to grind. So doing the same fight over and over again hoping RNG blesses you (this is especially true for the ultimate weapon drop, which is doing the same fight over and over and over again)

ah yeah that's disappointing. I can already see this game's missions won't have the same level of variety that MH has

I absolutely loved Granblue Fantasy: Relink, but yeah, burned out after getting all the ultimate weapons and stuff. I really wish there was more unique fights added post launch, especially with how long the mobile game has been going on. I'm 100% down if they ever make a sequel though, that game was hella fun for the like 200 hours I invested in it.

Ugh, sounds like Cygames gave relink the same crap rates as the mobile game.

Interesting comment about Genshin and combat. I've found Genshin's combat hard to come back to after playing ZZZ and Wuthering Waves.

Some of that might just be Natlan and not having many characters that feel as exciting. I'm building Citlali and Mavuika right now but uggggh at grinding these Natlan bosses.

    Labyrinth of the Demon King.

It's basically Silent Hill/Resident Evil meets King's Field. It even has the PS1 graphics to add to the nostalgia. Really fun. I just wish it was longer.

I've just been cracking out on The Finals of late. Grinding out the World Tour mode for once after getting pretty proficient with the Riot Shield and Dematerializer.

Also feels like most of the games I want to play of late are in the early access situation of just waiting for more content/polish to hit before I delve deeper into them. Currently on my list for that is:
    • Tokyo Xtreme Racer - I've exhausted most of the current content. Thankfully they've improved the AI opponents being oblivious to oncoming traffic at times since the initial release
    • Atlyss - Just needs more content
    • Project Zomboid - devs keep reinventing the wheel a decade later instead of just finishing off their planned content
    • Ultrakill - just waiting on it to be finished at this point
    • Police Simulator - buggy as fuck...and they keep introducing more bugs with each content update. One of those cases where I can deal with jank, but not if it's actively screwing with me finishing tasks
    • BattleBit Remastered - game was abandoned after launch window, although the devs recently posted a trailer showing off a supposed overhaul, which I hope means another window of time where I can see full servers again

How long we talking? You had me sold at SH meets King's Field, so if it's at least 8 hours long I'm game. Wishlisted for now.

I beat it in about 9ish hours and then another hour and half to clean up missing achievements. Definitely worth the price.

I know pixel art is the thing for indie games, but I love when these indie devs do PS1/N64 era graphics. Another one that I hear good things about with that graphics style is Cavern of Dreams, https://store.steampowered.com/app/2...ern_of_Dreams/. Watching the trailer it reminds me a lot of Spyro, and maybe DK64 in there.

Edit: Since I'm on the subject. If anyone else also loves that aesthetic, another one to keep an eye on is Compound Fracture, https://store.steampowered.com/app/1...ound_Fracture/. It looks like a FPS version of Dino Crisis. I just hope it doesn't get dropped since there hasn't been a whole lot of info released lately.

My only pet peeve with a lot of 'throwback' style games is they tend to be multiple gigabytes in size. Granted even something short like Corn Kidz 64 which nailed the N64 aesthetic, weighs in at a little under 200mb which is still a lot for a game with no voice acting or FMVs.

Another one that I hear good things about with that graphics style is Cavern of Dreams
Cavern of Dreams I finished off the other day. It's alright, albeit simple. I 100%'d it around the 6hr mark.

I got a small handful of games of the "made to look like an older game" realm that I'm keeping an eye out for coming out/getting on sale enough.
    • Call of Saregnar - Looks like a love letter to the Betrayal at Krondor series which I'm all for
    • Crow Country - Resident Evil style game.
    • Car Park Capital - styled after tycoon games of yore, oddly enough being published by MicroProse of all things which I thought was dead until I came across this game, since they were responsible for publishing Transport Tycoon in the DOS days.
    • Dread Dlusion - Had a couple friends say it's sorta like Morrowind in some regard, but it's an indie game so I'm expecting a smaller scope/scale.
    • The Big Catch - Aesthetic and polycount hearkens to Spyro-era. There's a prologue demo thing which was alright for dabbling around with. Game has a fair bit of movement tech which I like.

Actually, bringing up Crow Country reminds me that I still need to install Tormented Souls that I grabbed a couple sales ago for a buck, since that looked like an unapologetic Resident Evil clone on the gameplay end, despite modern'ish visuals.

Crow Country and The Big Catch definitely look like games I'd enjoy. Added those to the wishlist. Thanks.

I actually own Tormented Souls (I think from Humble Bundle or something), but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Looks like a decent RE game. I remember watching Bawkbasoup play a little of it, and I wasn't in love with the look and animations of the game, but overall it was all right. I'm sure I'll play it eventually when I need that RE-like fix.

I tried to play Tormented Souls a while back. It was pretty mid with horrible VA and a bug hardlocked me from progressing the game because I didn't have separate saves to go back to ;(

almost done with msq in Granblue Relink. ended up maining Narmaya mostly, she's super fun and strong as heck. idk how much of the post-game I'll do but I'll probably try and grind up some good gear for her at least.

also playing this new game you guys may have heard of, it's called Hollow Knight. I resisted it for a long time because I really dislike the monocolor scheme (oh my god you like moody blue WE GET IT) but with a palette swapper it's not so bad. obviously a phenomenal game so far, did I even need to say that?

I started HK last week in earnest. I tried it a couple other times, couldn't really see what the hype was about.

Having played about 20 hours of it now, I still don't see why people worship as the second coming of JC, but I do admit it is a gorgeous (even if lacking in some color) game. I'm having a blast with it. The bosses and platforming are fun but challenging. I think I have almost all of the main progression abilities at this point and need to mop up the rest of the mop, hidden stuff and do a couple of the final areas.

It's a fun ride. I know there's a lot more to the game especially that make it more challenging, but I'm not sure I'll do all that stuff. Anyhow, enjoy!

Been playing the fuck out of SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL. A mobile gacha, but the game has reinvigorated my love of Gundam and I've even subscribed to Crunchyroll to rewatch, and watch for the first time, all of the series available. I haven't played an SD game before, so the only comparison I have is the Dynasty Warriors games and the mission structures are very much the same. This is also a gacha that I don't recommend spending money on as 10 pulls are $19. There is no premium currency track, it all the same. There are pull tickets, but those are mostly from event rewards. In the month I've played the game, I've amassed over 500 units developed or pulled.

Bandai just released a survey this morning suggesting that they are gaging interest in doing a PC port.

You can play it as an auto-battler or as a tactics RPG. There is 12 campaigns in the base game with events adding time-limited campaigns. The campaigns get subbed, with Japanese audio, story overviews. There is a "PVP" mode that happens every so often. It's not a live PVP, but more of a selection of player opponents with difficulty based off of their build strength. There is also 32 post campaign challenge battles along with each of the campaigns having a variety of hard missions.

    Campaigns;

    Original
    Z
    ZZ
    Char's Counterattack
    Seed
    Seed Recollection
    Seed Destiny
    Wing
    X
    G
    00
    Iron-Blooded Orphans
    Witch From Mercury

Thunderbolt was an event when I had started and SD Lacroan Hero is currently wrapping up.
