Beat FFIII, fun but a very weak narrative. The main villain is pretty much absent from the entire game besides mention that the inciting event was his doing. That said, XIV took a LOT from this game, it was fun seeing the original stuff pop up here.

Yeah from my understanding the talents all got reworked a bunch and added more content too. 2 paid DLC classes which I know ppl weren't too happy with but got game on sale and DLC on sale, ended up buying Hive Scum at full price just cuz game is so much fun

I don't know how many hours I've spent in previous FFIV runs trying to get the dropped summons, in Pixel Remaster I got the Goblin drop on my very first fight in the entire game and then got a second one just now.

No Cockatrice drop yet though.

I believe they bumped all of the rarest shit in the PR version of FF4 to the second rarest drop table. Which I'm fine with, given the encounter types you need on some of the shit for them to even have a chance of dropping.
Also damn you banged out FF3 fast.

Mewgenics recently came out and I am thoroughly hooked. It's a rougelite class based tactical-turn based uhhh creature collectorish(?) game. Breed cats and take them into dungeons to breed more cats to take into dungeons to breed cats. It's toilet humor which is a little obnoxious but the gameplay loop is extremely fun and addicting

Yeah, the toilet humor is the worst aspect but once you get past that it'll destroy your time. Definitely a game where you'll go "okay, one more run then bed" and it'll be 3am.

Also, if you love TRPG type gameplay, look into The Last Spell, they just had their last DLC come out which really added to the gameplay. That's more inline with like a base defense game. I got 218 hours into it

Honestly, the dwarf and elf DLC aren't worth it lol they don't really add TOO much. I would definitely get the base game and the final DLC then if you want more, get the dwarf/elf DLC

finished divinity original sin 2 the other day

great game. enjoyed it more than bg3. bg3 was the first rpg of this type that I’ve played so it probably didn’t feel as good due to the learning curve, but overall the story and characters from divinity seemed a lot better

now to wait three years for the new divinity to come out

There are some later fights that you can lose before you even get a turn because the guest character runs straight to their deaths. It’s part of the charm. Keep multiple save files!

First time I played through tactics I got to end of chapter 2 with only squires and chemists before my childhood friend was like '...you know you can change classes right?".

I have hundreds of hours in the game now over years and years, my fave thing to do is random encounters in chapter 1 and just grind away, unlock Thief and Mediator and get their skills and eventually random encounters will start having people show up with better and better gear. Pretty hilarious to show up to Chapter 2 with fucking ninjas wielding runeblades and dragoons flying around just bitch slapping stuff around.
