I was really bad at first too. Started getting irritated just like with Dark Souls. I slowed down and when approaching groups I played it like I was pulling a mob for my party. Did things one on one until I got more comfortable. Took me forever to beat Cleric Beast.

So after all afternoon trying to kill the guy at the top of the tower shooting at me. I go up, dodge an attack, swung one or two times with my saw spear, the guy backs up and falls off the building...

Legit one of the strats to make him fall off is to shoot him with pistol twice as soon as you're on top. You can then save and reload and his loot will be where he spawned.

Finished up Bayonetta 2 earlier this weekend and now the first game's plot makes plenty of sense. Started on Shantae: Half Genie hero and normally I don't care too much about a game's visuals but holy hell the HD sprite work is beautiful.

any Saga fans? I've recently become addicted to Saga Frontier. it's such a terrible game... but underneath the lack of polish there's something amazing here. when I don't hate it, that is.

I loved SaGa Frontier, even despite the fact it was an unfinished product. Yeah, some parts are total bullshit, especially some of the fights. The main characters are hit or miss in terms of how well their stories are fleshed out. I remember just how polarizing it was back in the day.

As for myself, plodding through Super Robot Wars X.

Just finished Far Cry 5. I'll give it a 7 out of 10. Would purchase a direct sequel to go after more cultists!

Not sure what to do next. Fiye gifted me Destiny 2 and while it's fun I just want someone non first person for awhile. Probably Dark Souls 3. Was thinking of starting Syberia or Silent Hill 2. Or The Evil Within.

After listening to a lot of critique and defense about Fallout 3 / NV, I finally got in the mood to play Fallout 4.

After listening to a lot of critique and defense about Fallout 3 / NV, I finally got in the mood to play Fallout 4.

After buying the GoTY edition (already owned standard but was cheaper to buy GoTY than SP) around three months ago I finally started playing Fallout 4 again. I have around 70 mods installed and I will get very random crashes. Makes me want to go back to New Vegas but I feel like I should play a game I've invested $60 into instead of the one (that I already have more hours into) that I only paid $5 for.

currently playing Romancing SaGa 3... in Spanish, because that's the only complete translation haha. I speak un poco so this is... interesting.

Picked up Splatoon 2 last week. Not bad but kind of repetitive. Also did Primrose's path in Octopath and holy crap this game needs to come out already.

yeah, it's nowhere near as good as the Spanish patch though. super buggy and the translation is unpolished, from what the reviews say. but thanks for the tip


IDK why but I feel better playing a game in a language I only understand halfway than I do playing one with bad grammar/translation. plus I'm building my Spanish vocab soooo that's neat lol

I think the groups doing both RS3 English patches (Dragonsoft and Mana Sword) stopped working on them ages ago. That tends to happen whenever key people go MIA and/or something happens to the project files. They both came out before groups started doing fancy things like variable width fonts. If I remember right, the English patch for Treasure of the Rudras (another JP-ONRY Square game from that era) sprung up from a French translation, since most of the heavy re-programming legwork aside from the magic system had been done already.

But yeah, RS3 is an excellent game. More so than both Frontier games IMO. The soundtrack is also incredible!

Yeah those patches are dead I imagine. The Spanish one is amazing though; very well-polished. It uses the variable width font and just looks great, reads great, plays great etc.

Rudra is definitely on my list as well; I've played it once but only for a few hours. I'm digging hardcore into the SNES hack/translation library right now. Treasure Hunter G, Rudra, Chaos Seed, Gun Hazard, I mean I could go on and on... and that's not even counting the amazing hacks out there - I just started the Breath of Fire II retranslation and it's superb.

Saga 3 is great yeah. I'm still getting *most* of the plot with my limited Spanish skills, and the gameplay is solid af (as Saga games always are). Frontier would be the best in the series though, if it was just... you know, finished When a game that ugly and disjointed is still endearing and engrossing you know there's something going on.

Yeah, I feel ya there! You could apply that to a lot of their non-FF projects back then.

1990's Square was MONEY! Another recommendation if you get the chance - Live-A-Live. It's essentially everything SaGa Frontier should've been. It helped pave the way for games like Rudra (with the multiple characters' stories), and Treasure Hunter G (which adopted a similar battle system).
