Went back to Resident Evil 8, can't believe it had already been 5 years since it was released. I originally played it on PS4, it looks amazing on PS5!
That said, Village of Shadows difficulty is ASS. They should've named this shit Village of Asses instead. I usually like the challenge level in subsequent playthroughs at higher difficulties but man every encounter is just outright punishing here. Every zombie/Lycan is a bullet sponge and those you have to kill, you have to land every bullet perfectly. Not to mention they are much more agile than traditional RE zombies.
not much out there im interested in right now so I picked up the doom/doom2 bundle on ps5 that includes the ability to download mods, but already includes plutonia/tnt/and a couple newer mods
and uh…as a big doom enjoyer, this rules
Burning my way through the other 5 original FF games took like 20ish hours, I'm up to 50 hours on FFVI and still have things left to do. Truly this was the pinnacle of its era.
After 30 something hours I finally platinum'd Resident Evil 8. Main story was fun, Village of Shadows was brutal but Mercenaries was damn tedious, all about memorizing enemy placement.
Overall it was an entirely new experience on PS5 since I finished it on PS4 Pro back then. Man Ethan is a good protagonist, did a good job reviving the franchise.
And Heisenberg sounded a bit too familiar this time around....noticed he has the same VA w/ Astarion of BG3. One of the highlights in the game was him calling Chris Redfield a "Boulder-punching asshole" LOL. Word spreads fast.
i loved Ethan too and 7+8 made for a banging resurrection for the franchise. with 9 slapping and the 2/4 remakes hitting (with more comin) RE has never been in a better place.
Yeah it's crazy how sharply the series turned around after kinda floundering for years. Basically everything they've touched since 7 with the exception of the RE3 remake has been absolute gold. And RE3 wasn't bad just a bit of a letdown considering how good 2 and 4 were.
I think a lot of people forgot about how short the original RE3 was, which was a valid complaint when the game came out (which granted they made even worse in the remake)
I'd be pissed if I spent $70 on REmake3.

Yeah I just bought it for like $2.99 on Steam. I'd say it's fine at that price.
My biggest gripe with the game is that Nemesis feels super neutered. He should be a more intimidating version or equal to Mr. X. Instead he appears at predefined times and most of them you can't even fight him, not to mention that mutation he does like midway through the game was definitely a decision.
Someone/people are working on a mod to change R3make more into what it was in the past. Curious what they'll do in the park/clock tower because most of those assets don't exist in the game.
We need more Jill representation. Fuck the haters.
I miss Jill as a main, people forget how tough she is. Even Claire has had two games (CV remake comes out next year). Jill gets a half game. Rebecca and Barry really haven't appeared at all.
Sheva and Carlos are basically erased at this point.
9 years later I have made it to Route C in Nier Automata. Idk what kept taking me out of it in previous playthroughs (probably the bazillion sidequests in Route A) but I am all in to finish this time.
Guys Idk how I have remained spoiler free on this game for 9 years. But just got control of the third character and WHAT THE FUCK @ everything.
No spoilers pls.
Route C is what turns the game from p good p good to a mastapiece
I do not appreciate how this virus has turned all my fun loving machines into zombies. I worry I will not have a good time during this route
