I'd just say play through as much of the story as you can (with friend help) and do the various achievements/quests for their rewards. Anything more specific would depend on knowing what characters you have to suggest TM farming.

I'm kinda on the fence on suggesting to go all out on this banner since Orlandu is top-tier, but some others here seem to be creaming their pants about upcoming stuff so dunno. I'm fairly scrub in the long term.

Might be able to find a few on the Reddit but basically here's what I'd do.

1) Post a SS of yoru character options so we can give you an idea of who to level for the time being.

2) Work on the story, lots of Lapis involved there and you just really should finish it.

3) Clear Vortex bosses as you can, they give very very good weapons, BIS if you dont include TMR and the occasional event item. They're in the events page I think on the far right, but I'd start with the ones in the Explorable Vortex (Click on the Events thing and in the top right it says exchange, go there, exit the castle and go to the left~middle... It sounds hard but you'll find a house in there with a Katana on a platform, fight boss and profit.

Aria - good healer choice
Shantotto - easy to level and use black mage
Might as well level Rain + Lasswell since they will get used for trials and other things.
Probably level Sakura (when you get her) as well, she is quite useful in situations without a reliable green mage.

Do you have discord? If you join the BG one and pop into the chat I can give faster responses. Several of us in there are pretty quick to respond actually.

Make sure you do your 250 lapis pulls every day. Don't bother doing 10+1 pulls ever.

Right now if I were you I'd focus on playing the game's story, you could probably hit the event just a few times to collect the lapis/get the ATK+20% materia and bail.
My advice to beginners is always:
Event farming > Story > Trials (if capable) > Get Useful Equipment from Story > Level Espers (especially for killers) > TMR (put this at the bottom of the list, however, if you wouldn't mind using an emulator you could probably do a lapis refresh TMR day in the future and throw 5 units in and get 5 useful TMR)

Beating the game's story for season 1 (we just reached it) has rewarded us with a 100% moogle which at this point I would recommend you throw it on a zidane. But that's a LOONNNNNNG WAY in.

I'd level Aria as your WHM. Shantotto is a great 5* Chainer but you'd want 2, so ExDeath is great because he can 6*.... Outside of that I dont see any stand out Hero's in your list unfortunately...

In the short term I suppose the best team for you right now would probably be...

Rain - Your "Tank"/Debuffer/Buffer (Only useful at 6*)
Aria - your Healer
Shantotto and ExDeath as your DPS
Sakura when you get her as a support unless you manage to pull Rikku beforehand.

This is just a suggestion but I would go with shantotto, exdeath, aria, lasswell and rain. Shantotto just got her 5* and she's awesome. Can chain blizzaga between her and exdeath. Rest of your units aren't very good. But you'll get better ones as you go along.

DO NOT fuse your zidane together. His tmr is one of the very best in the game. Take all those friend point summons you have an fuse them. Especially riser. He is the 10% hp one. They will be very helpful until you can start replacing them later.

The rookie quests they just added are a nice help for people just starting out. No real rush to spam through things right off the bat. Take your time and you'll get the hang of this game in no time. Throw your ID on here so we can help you out.

Could someone with a strong Orlandu set themselves up with Ifrit set and Bird Killer? Need to do the Beast trial for the Large Sword mastery. Almost did it with some rando on my FL, but I don't think he had BK set so Siren survived long enough to go batshit.

What was said earlier: Aria, Rain, Shantotto and Exdeath. Together they can clear probably 80% of the story without much worry.

I would say focus on clearing story first. The lapis will earn from clears can stockpile for later pulls or tmr farming.

Speaking of, you will want to get rank ups for future farming. If I recall correctly, based on tmr farming usage, it's at rank 90+ when using lapis for NRG refill is efficient.

Melena, send me an invite (make sure BG is in comment so I know, please) and I will set perfect dodge Lightning for you to knock out the Gilgamesh trial. That'll set you up with a strong weapon, ATK 30% materia, and a dispel ability. Just let Lightning auto-attack for about an hour and try to get the LB kill when Gilg is at 0% HP but not actually dead.
