JJ Watt's fund for flood relief has broken 10 mil, he initially set the goal at 200k.

He's said in interviews he's using to money to load up trucks with relief and rebuilding supplies and take it direct to the people, it's where I chose to donate if anyone still looking for ways to help.

Also if you want to help the doggos, Houston SPCA has gift registry with amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/l...f=cm_go_nav_hz

I was thinking about this too. Some areas in San Antonio went to shit went people moved here because of Katrina. Luckily I'm about to sell my house.

Houstonian reporting in. I'll go back and read thru the thread but thought I'd share my Harvey experience.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I work in the medical center, so we (ride-out team) were ordered to remain in place on Saturday morning. I live near the Buffalo Bayou, and that filled quickly and got within a few yards of my first floor apartment. The apartments on the lower end of the complex weren't so lucky. No friends or family members were flooded out, although a few came pretty close. Tonight, I'll be enjoying my first night off since the 22nd. Made some sick OT and disaster pay, so I'm not trippin' lol.

    Pics.....

    Spoiler: show
Med center view from the skybridge on Sunday.

It got worse. These are from my Uncle's Facebook, who was also in the med center.

Sleeping quarters. It wasn't my bed, but I definitely had it better than most.

Pics taken near my apartment after I came to check on it Tuesday morning. Was grateful the water didn't reach it, and that I didn't have to sleep on a cot again.

Fun fact. The penthouse on the top of that high rise in the background belongs to resident zodiac killer Ted Cruz.

Taken from steps near my apartment, where the bayou water rose above that street and a few of said steps on Sunday morning.

Couple of pics taken from a friend who lives near me.

Another friend's sister's apartment, pic taken from second floor. They were near one of the dams that was released and were eventually rescued by chopper.

Tillerson accepts aid from Mexico to help victims in Texas & Louisiana. Mexico will supply vehicles, boats, supplies and food. Mexican Red Cross volunteers are already in Houston.

While we're all being considerate, forget not our poor and brown brethren in South Asia who are incredibly displaced and poised for widespread food shortages due to an especially persistent and punishing monsoon season.

..or not perhaps. There's no Nepal Strong merchandise after all.

If we get to crush a kayak-delivered pie whilst pruny from the waist down, we'll be fine.

There are two different models right now that they are looking at: If the Low Pressure system that they are monitoring stays over the Leeward islands, it will channel the Hurricane thru the Bahamas and then most likely up the coast of Florida on through the east cost. If the Low Pressure system moves to the north of the Leeward Islands, it will create somewhat of a convergence zone with the High Pressure system there and disrupt the Hurricane's path causing it to slingshot back out into the Atlantic. Scientists believe that if it hits the warm waters of the Bahamas it will possibly reach Cat4. Also, two disturbances are being monitored: one in the gulf of mexico and one off the coast of africa.

We somehow are having a gas shortage here in Texas
Every gas station has lines 6 cars deep at every pump and gas prices have jumped almost 30 cents.

Didn't they say we aren't supposed to price gouge?

30 cents isn't price gouging. 3 bucks is price gouging.

    30 cents reflects the market.

Pretty much this...supply and demand. Not only this but the nations largest oil refinery which is located in Port Arthur was shut down yesterday along with 3 other refineries. So there is probably going to be a small national bump in prices.
