Yeah I figured out the astra part and covered it with tyro's usb. The problem is that Lightning's sync and Prompto's AASB just aren't doing enough damage before they end. I think I get him down to around 60%, but I can't quite remember. Too much damage is left to simply finish him off with Lightnings USB, as hones are fairly low coming out of Sync, to say nothing about the rage that stacks to 3 again.

There were many times where I had to pray for a Crit to do enough damage to break the first level 3 rage, since attack and chain bonus', although close, were not enough.

Also, if you have a SMN AWSB, summons can easily break cap too.

    Imperils are important too.
I have Zach's chain and I stack Cloud's USB1, so breaking the rage isn't a problem, it's that it re-ups so often. Wind especially seems to shoot up to lv3 from 0 so often. I can actually get a turn or two of Clouds Sync+quad to hit full or close to full damage for 20-45k~ with chain and ~4 imperil from Zach's AASB. Like with Lightning, Sync ends, I'm low on hones, and I typically have more than 50% of his HP left to burn down.

Does rage stop at some point? It's all I can do to burn through them and maybe get 1 turn with it down

So for using her sync, wait until you get to phase 2 before you go nuts. With only Kain awakening and Prompto I was able to whittle down Odin with two healers and Tyro.

Before that I just USB, OSB.

Sync relies heavily on hones if you don't stack it with AASB, even more so for Lightning since she blows through turns. I guess I can try and use her imperil BSB to save the hones. I was doing Lightning/Prompto/Ignis/Shelk/Aerith, so Lightning was hitting as hard as she could. I will probably drop Shelk for Elarra since it'll be a bit more of a drawn out fight, and regenga should reduce stress on healers

Not really... it's scripted at certain HP%, AND Turn. For the whole list see here...
nvm, I cant link to gamefaqs

    Take-aways:
Rage Level increases by 1 when his HP goes below 81%
    - Level increases by 2 when his HP goes below 71%
    - Level increases by 3 when his HP goes below 61%

    ...but also
    Rage Level increases by 1 after Turn 5, 7, 10, 18, 20 & 28
    - Level increases by 2 after Turn 15, 25 & 30

so if you change phase at turn 15, you will likely be at rage level 3.

So in your fights are you mostly under some form of damage reduction rage? It seems like you have to constantly have 10k+ hits or you'll be at lv2 or lv3 rage

Yeah, mostly enraged, but level 1 rage is pretty tolerable. AWSBs that proc Double-cast can remove all rage levels though.

When I did wind-weak Odin, I started with Cloud USB1, so only cloud was controlling rage levels (although, IIRC, magicite always broke the first rage level). It was up to RNG if he'd double cast though... which didn't always work in my favor.

Once I got about 60% HP Zidane would start using his AWSB, and as long as I could reliably remove level 3 -- level 2 and 1 were easy. Getting Rage level 3 removed usually required a Crit to break cap though.

Edit: I also used Farris for both Chain, and Imperils. Tyro USB4 for crits. Ellara would Attk+ song when heals were not needed.

yeah, once you really start pushing damage you're pretty much always gonna be in some rage level or another. my main issue with odins is having to restart because of bad zantetsuken luck, where i'll get a wcast that pushes him from 0 back to level 3. final phase push can also screw you if you don't sufficiently prep for it. you wanna make sure you're going in with a healthy timer left on your chain which means you'll probably need to recast prematurely. for my ice-weak clear that meant i had to forego using any meter on laguna's imperil SBs, you may find yourself in a similar scenario with prompto once you start getting to the final stretch.

2 stacks of HP Boon and 1 of each Blade/Spell ward is the base for all magicite decks. Thats done for a few Odin fights to have healers pass 10k HP (including Magia and waters) and give a baseline mitigation.

Don't forget that lower tier abilities (3* and 4* ones) have higher multipliers like Summon abilities do. Yes, they only do one or maybe two hits but they can break that 9999 cap for rage a LOT more easily.

and there are definitely situations where I've intentionally used fewer hits to break rage rather than the superior move - especially on the +speed savage modes, where even one level can be dangerous.

3rd Odin down finally. It's humorous that I have run Fabula Priestess in all my runs so far.

Whatever works. I'm just farming up and inheriting my last two Deathgaze Magicites and I'll have my decks sorted out for more Odin attempts.

I keep making attempts on Ramuh, but I think I'm waiting for more tech. I don't have any empowered infusion for earth, and that means that when you get to p3 he does 99999 to everyone, then 7-8k to everyone, while your healing as a 50% power, and then he does another 6kish aoe right after that. Empowered infusion glint on Galuf or Tifa should turn that into a sure win, but the timing to pull it off without just seems silly to me atm.

This fight is ridiculous. I chose Galuf and Kelgar glints from the double select, and it went from frustratingly impossible, to easy 41 second win. 3x infusion (Tifa was #3) makes WAY too big a difference for phase 3.

Edit: Also, it helps to lower your least useful party members MND enough to make Paralyze last 2 complete turns (my choice was Tyro, and I swapped his gear to lower his MND to 529 in the equip screen, nor sure what it is with buffs, but it was enough to keep him para'd for 2x turns) if not, Ramuh will use another Earth Diffusion.

Oh yeah, one of those glints is likely enough to make the fight entirely doable for me. Trying to not spend money on this game anymore, though, so avoiding buying the glints. No empowered infusion makes his damage reflect thing in p3 insane, and makes the move do 99999, right after anti-heal, so you're dead for sure. Just gonna toss 20 magicite wins elsewhere this month unless next ticket can net me something...

Never thought I could hate a Magicite as much as I did Mateas/Belias, but Adamantoise has taken that role now. Pretty sure it's from a lack of magey imperils and/or that my only wind chain was Freya's free one. I've tried a few setups with both physical and magical teams, but still can't power through that last 1/3 of his HP.

Thoughts on imperil vs chain for Adamantoise? I feel the imperil is necessary, with or w/o chain, but I think I could manage w/o it if I bring Terra with her fire Awakening+Meltdown with ghetto chain.

Adamantoise was one that was a struggle for me. I believe my first 4 were with Zack chain as he was my only wind chain for a while.

I also had an off element Awakening in Vincent going the Meltdown route.

My first clear was 1m 05s.

    Fujin - Tornado/Raging Storm, USB/Glint(?)
    OK - Chain Tornado/Entrust, mUSB/BSB
    Vincent - Meltdown/Tornado?, AASB/USB
    Elarra - Mages Hymn/Curada(maybe), USB(3?)
    Zack - CSB/imperil BSB

I believe this was a majority of my initial setup. My next round of them a week or two ago, I had Fujin's chain so I swapped Zack out for Alphinaud. If you have Alphinaud's Radiant Shield it can help with damage a bit too.

Fujin would use build then use USB and just continue on for the rest of the battle. She may have had her OSB as well but I don't know how much I used it.

OK would mUSB at the start, then follow up with BSB if he had guage around 10s. He may have tossed a single actions worth of guage to Vincent as I was leading Vincent's AASB with his USB for added damage.

Vincent would build up, USB, then AASB, then Meltdown for the rest of the fight.

Elarra would mages hymn and use USB when possible. I can't remember if I had to use her 2nd command or not.

For Zack, I had his IC2/3 LM (it may be on his sphere board) so I would open with the BSB then build for chain. He would throw the chain off around when Fujin and Vincent had gauge. I wasn't able to finish Adamantoise off in one chain so I had to reapply later on.

When I was going through the magicite wheel, I would jump over to reddit and look at the mastery survey threads. If you have time, you can do some searches and see what you have for tools that are comparable. It really helped me with ones I was struggling clearing.

Aside from Zack, I have nearly all of that tech. I could replace Vincent with Terra for nearly the same setup. I could slot another mage inplace of Zack, since I have neither of those SB's, that can both dispel and OSB to help break rage. I may just hold off until I can finish out a set or two of Madeen.
    Thanks

Yeah, Madeens go a long way. I got those completed as soon as I could. In fact, I hit Lakshmi first, just so I could swap Rikku to Magic Magia for Madeen as I had his Awakening.

Ha, I was actually planning on doing that too, but I recently got Kefka's Awakening and a few other toys for him (god I hate him), that I'm planning on using for this. I am planning on using Seymour's CSB for both Holy fights, since that's the only dark CSB I have.

The main thing with adamantoise is keeping the savage mode and buffs off. There's not too much you can do about a def/res/mind buff unless you're using ultimecia brave or something, but you can dispel the pro/shell and OSB off the savage mode. Even a nonelemental OSB should work for that - I used rinoa's first time around and that was before the cost update so it was incredibly painful. Now osbs are actually pretty good to use.

EDIT: Regarding chain vs imperil, it depends on the imperiler. If it's zack vs freya then I'd go chain. If it's barbaricca vs freya that's a closer call, I think.
