anyone else watching? really strong show so far. pretty much great everything even if feels a bit trope-y here and there. the acting by the two leads is great (main character is awesome as a curmudgeon), but generally pretty good overall.

a scene in first episode was pretty horrifying though. not really sure how to warn about it without spoiling it for the people who want to watch. basically i guess if real life type stuff bothers you:

I read the book, and the preview for the show looked interesting, but had forgotten about it until now.

But, looking into it, it apparently is only available to DirectTV subscribers? That explains why I haven't heard much about it, I guess.

oh yeah maybe that's why there's not a lot of buzz around it. only reason i heard about it was i knew king wrote it (even though i'm a gigantic king fan and didn't read it ) but then i saw it pop up on billboards around here.

The show's really great! I'm really looking forward to the several developments and how accurately they'll be depicted in the show. Overall a great year for King! I thought The Mist kind of picked up in the second half of the season.

oh i didn't know that show was that mature. thought it had just come out, i'll have to check that out too.

It's done, season 1 is on Netflix, if you have it! I'm doubting we'll get a 2nd season though, since I believe it performed rather poorly and most critics also panned it.

I was with the Mist for just under two episodes. It started with a whole bunch of ham-fisted characterization with zero subtlety, and then moved into the extreme plot contrivance combined with completely inexplicable behavior very, very quickly, and I just turned it off once the Mom had to go into the scary part of the mall, and someone volunteered to go along with her, but it turns out he's some sort of government spy who needed to get to that part of the mall anyway, so he didn't volunteer but waited for someone to get drawn randomly and then agreed to help but what he needed to do he needed to do in secret so there was no reason for him to wait for the draw or take the Mom along at all and then hold her prisoner in the radio room when he could have done the whole thing by himself to start with and I know this is a stupidly long run on sentence but it's still better quality than the writing on this show.

Maybe it got better later on. I wanted to like the show because the short story and overall concept are very cool, but nope. I lasted a season and an episode on Under the Dome, and the Mist lost me much faster than that.

I wasn't a huge fan of 11/22/63, but I didn't hate it - I got through the whole show. I definitely didn't like it as much as the book, though. Hopefully this is at least as good (if not better) than 11/22/63.
