You brought this up before, and it is odd because it's a separate matter from the conversation in the first place. As the government of Taiwan and the population of the island is pretty close to entirely Han Chinese and not indigenous Taiwanese.

When sovereignty is discussed in the matter of Taiwan. It is the context of the RoC vs PRC. Not the indigenous people as if we want to go over hundreds of years of history that doesn't change the current situation.
This is not a discussion or matter of land taken from indigenous people because apparently finders keepers is forever.

We totally don't have a history of any human rights abuses. Nope. No sir-ree. All in the past and we just skirt around that in grade school. We are such a free beacon of human rights that we totally don't have a long string of skeletons to even the recent Lashawn Thompson incident. I don't think the average quality of prison cells in China is even worse than that right there.

Depends what "abuses" are actually on the table here. If you are a fan of NPR or Radio Free Asia style spin. Then I can imagine it is concerning to hear of a bottomless pit of abuses. However, it's generally along the lines of "Cuba hit our embassy with sonic weapons" style piece or propaganda. Government influenced articles or fronts with slanted foreigner correspondents stationed there intentionally with an agenda. It's hard to get genuine reporting on matters.
