Oof the recent spate of Uighur reporting is pretty gruesome.

There is a chance that it is targeted leaks aimed at whipping up anti-China sentiment, but it seems very likely to be real either way.

Lowlights include:
1) forced birth control
2) forced abortions
3) separating children from their families
4) killing people to set an example (and potentially harvesting their organs)
5) rape
6) forced labor, to make things that you might own
7) assigning the wives of disappeared men a Han Chinese replacement and all that entails (aka making someone play house with their rapist)
8) making them renounce God / not do Islamic things / normal reeducation montage stuff
9) torture, to extract confessions to justify torture

Not a comprehensive list.

China, of course, says that the prison camps don't exist. Very believable.

Serious question: we all know the prison camps exist. I'm wondering how the global economy would shift if every prison camp in China was eradicated and all existing products (still within China) produced destroyed. We know they exist and that they are pervasive, but how pervasive?

How much are people - from average consumers to major corporations - profiting off of labor camps, and to say nothing of labor camps in other nations.

It generally isn't easy to get reliable data out of China. They keep demand for goods down relative to their income and it has never been clear what part of their mix of domestic policies cause it.

Prison labor camps have existed in this province for decades, but they didn't used to be used for the purpose of ethnocultural eradication.

I'll say that one of the notable features of enslaving people is that you don't have to pay them for their labor and thus they tend not to buy things.
