With the coronavirus throwing tens of millions of people into poverty, the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday was awarded to the World Food Program, the U.N. agency on the front line of battling hunger and dealing with the pandemic's economic fallout.
The Nobel was a recognition of the Rome-based organization’s long-standing role in addressing food supply crises and trying to improve conditions in conflict zones. But by selecting a group emblematic of global cooperation, the 2020 prize was also an admonition in an era of nationalism and skepticism about international projects.“
The need for international solidarity and multilateral cooperation is more conspicuous than ever,” said Berit Reiss-Andersen, the chairwoman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, announcing the prize in Oslo.

The NSA did a prisoner swap with Houthi rebels in Yemen for two hostages and the remains of a third. The Houthi received 240 Yemenis who were stranded in Oman.
Sandra Loli, a humanitarian worker held for about three years, and businessman Mikael Gidada, held for about one, were freed on Wednesday, US officials said.
The remains of a third US captive, Bilal Fateen, were repatriated as well.
It comes after the Houthis reported receiving more than 200 Yemenis from Oman, where many had been stranded after receiving medical treatment.
In a statement, the US state department welcomed the release of Ms Loli and Mr Gidada, and extended its condolences to the family of Mr Fateen.
US national security adviser Robert O'Brien thanked Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and King Salman of Saudi Arabia for their assistance, and credited President Donald Trump for his support.
A Houthi spokesman, Mohammed Abdulsalam, earlier tweeted that the 240 or so Yemenis who returned to the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, included either people who had been stranded or who were injured and had travelled to the Omani capital Muscat to receive medical treatment.
Mr Abdulsalam added that they included casualties who had travelled to the Gulf state during UN-brokered peace talks between the warring parties in Stockholm in 2018. "The United Nations did not bring [them] back" in line with the agreement reached, he said.
Mr Abdulsalam also thanked Oman for its "humanitarian efforts" but did not mention the release of US hostages.
Freeing the Loli smh
Edit: Nevermind +_+

The fiancee of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and a human rights organization he founded shortly before his death have accused Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of ordering Khashoggi’s killing to “permanently silence” his advocacy for democratic reform in the Arab world.
In a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in Washington, D.C., Hatice Cengiz and Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) alleged that Khashoggi was tortured, murdered and dismembered “pursuant to a directive of Defendant Mohammed bin Salman.”
The crown prince and two dozen named co-defendants “saw Khashoggi’s actions in the United States as an existential threat to their pecuniary and other interests and, accordingly, conspired to commit the heinous acts that are the subject of this suit,” it said.
For context, Lukashenko is the current and only president Belarus has ever had, elections there are not "free and fair". He's been president since 1994, and is considered "Europe's last dictator".
All those replies supporting that dumbshit take all seem to be coming from muslims.
