Yeah, like most medical billing stuff prices are all over the map, but Panorama (the other major one besides MaterniT21) will usually be able to work with you.

Also...trisomy 21 is down's syndrome...which is the genetic abnormality most commonly tested for. You don't need MaterniT21 or Panorama for that.

In what world is paying hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for prescreenings reasonable for most American families?

A world where it's your fault you aren't rich. If you aren't rich, you don't deserve money. The free market's choices are infallible after all. You just need to make better deals like President Donald J. Trump. The best deals.

I don't want to be glib, but you're going to be spending far more than a few hundred dollars on your baby in the first year of its life on just the basics, not counting how much you'll pay for the delivery and doctor's appointments. Paying $235 for a genetic screen, especially if you are at risk or an older mom, is pretty reasonable.

You're also spending that money on actual resources that go towards raising the child. This is spending money on a test you hope to God you fail.

Stop saying you can't get fetal genetic screenings for relatively cheap with a simple maternal blood draw.

Honestly, no one that works in medicine has any idea what they're doing til about 2 years into practice.

honestly it's not even a credentialing thing. It's a stop coming in guns blazing being an asshole when you're only right about half the time thing. I don't think anyone doubts the med student has greater general medical knowledge than everyone else, but calm the fuck down when you think(this is paramount- THINK) someone else is wrong about something
