Funding doesn't solve hospital administrative bloat. Funding doesn't control prices. Funding doesn't address insurance companies. Funding is nice, but it doesn't address underlying issues.

I don't disagree. Funding the personnel and payment for bills does address a lot of them.

I am just contending that without a full system change you are only ripping out the weeds, but leaving the roots.

The metaphor is now lost in the weeds. There is no fixing the healthcare system with funding. It exists for profit, and that's it. The health of people is not a matter of profit.

The insurance industry exists for profit. Most hospitals operate very close to the margins.

It is actually weirder than that because most health insurance companies have mandated maximum profit margins. They end up doing things like wrapping their health insurance profits in a larger company that internally charges itself huge amounts to offload profits to different departments.

Basically every step of the process in the US has massive waste, from the AMA and congress producing too few doctors to our asinine system creating massive administrative overhead to drugs costing 4x as much here due to weird regulatory decisions.

I believe the news refers to it somewhat ambiguously as "communities engaged in high risk behavior" or something, but the lowdown is basically yes.

There is a vaccine and hopefully we will get a lid on it before it infects more people.

From what I heard, gays were just the first to start getting tested for it but it affects everyone equally.

However, I've heard that some places were only testing homosexuals and gas lighting everyone else that wanted to be tested so the numbers might be higher than reported.
