I don't struggle at all.

I was literally just reading comments about kids losing free school lunches and people were celebrating, because they didnt want their tax dollars feeding kids, blaming the CHILDREN themselves for not being able to pay, etc. People need to stop seeing conservatives as anything than purposeful evil. I wish for the worst on these people with a clean conscious. Any goodwill I had toward those that thought differently than me politically was torn away years ago.

There is no such thing as a morally good conservative despite many attempting to wave that flag. Children should not starve. People should be able to freely learn. Healthcare should not be conditional upon wealth. All this, and more, they will argue against behind the shield of capitalism, religion, (white) entitlement, and ghoulish blackheartedness.

They will eventually get in line, but it's not going to be this version of the bill. The Senate has more procedural hurdles than the house. There's lots in the bill that will require 60 votes, outside of the budget reconciliation. The house doesn't have that requirement, they just need a simply majority. There's a clause barring injunctions against EOs. Some AI stuff unrelated to budget. Those will get canned. Fetterman will have a mini-stroke and vote yes. There's a lot to get through and I'd be shocked if the 2 chambers come close to an agreement before they July 4 break.

Stuff like this always has more than they expect to make it through, in order to give the illusion of compromise. When it does eventually pass, it will still take healthcare away from millions, and gender-affirming healthcare from literally everyone who needs it.

There are serious problems with the incentives in the academic publishing industry and if the person implementing it wasn't an idiot there are actually good reasons to think a government-run publication could be useful.
