I'm with you. I hope they (and Lonzo) do well.

This was their first game in Lithuania, playing an exhibition against a top Lithuanian club in Zalgiris. Zalgiris basically played their U-18 team, made up of their best young players. It's a good sign that both played solidly against very good players of a similar age.

Gelo's ceiling is basically a euro player, but hopefully LaMelo can get some good coaching and a chance at an NBA career

Luck into? They have had like the 5th pick in a 4 person draft for like 5 straight years. If anything based on how bad they have been, they have arguably been unlucky for a while now.

Okay, this game is embarrassing for the Cavs. No Lowry, no Ibaka and Derozen has 5 points for the Raps, and yet the Cavs are losing by 33 points with 9 minutes to go in the 3rd

Hard to disagree but there are a couple drafts where the draft was just lousy after them.

Toss out 2017 because it's too recent to know.

2016 they drafted Sabonis but then traded him for Ibaka. Probably the right pick, the next 20 after him are a litany of nobodies, but the trade was terrible both in the moment and in retrospect
2015 they drafted Mario Hezonja at 5 which is a pretty bad miss now. Any of the next 5 are probably the same, but the teens have a list of players that might turn into somebody, especially Devin Booker at 13. Kelly Oubre at 15 is probably better.
2014 is Aaron Gordon at 4, might be the best player in the draft at that point, they might have missed on Saric at 12 cause they could have had Lavine at 13 or Nurkic at 16.

They haven't had great positioning in good drafts and they haven't been managed well either. Just not a well run franchise right now.
