Its scotland and no. Its hate speech laws is what he's getting fucked under and he managed to get the wrong sort of attention and since youtube is youtube they didn't simply just pull the video because youtube is not responsible for the content its users put up there.

Okay, Scotland was my second go to, but I went with my first guess.

It sets a precedent that intent doesn't matter, and on top of that, you can't defend your intent by simply stating it. You decide the intent of your words, not someone else. If this isn't nipped in the bud, it will cause great harm to everyone.

I'm unfamiliar if where you are has hate speech laws, but they exist here. I really see the people who want to control speech amplifying this and trying to use it as precedent to get traction in their own regions.

At the start of the video Meechan posted, he says: "My girlfriend is always ranting and raving about how cute and adorable her wee dog is so I thought I would turn him into the least cute thing I could think of which is a Nazi."

But the procurator fiscal have argued that they do not believe the video was intended to be a joke and that Meechan had "a particular audience in mind" when he uploaded it to YouTube.

In the video, Meechan repeats the phrase "gas the Jews" 23 times which The Crown described as "reckless" and "extremely offensive to the Jewish community".

But on Friday, the procurator fiscal said: "In a criminal court in Scotland, Mr Meechan does not decide the context, the court decided."

The prosecution described Meechan as a "highly intelligent and articulate individual" but said that the pug was being used as a "prop".

It's funny cause you say this, but it turns out he actually did say gas the jews lmfaoooo.

Hate speech laws are weird, and we don't know all the evidence offered by the prosecution. Is he a white nationalist? Is this the first time he's been caught with white nationalist "jokes"? People say stupid shit all the time, but this is the first I've seen a guy prosecuted for something like this. That doesn't make me think this is crazy and out of line, it makes me think you're missing the whole story. I'd really like to see the entire case they made against him.
