Token Negro? The Root sounds like a really respectable news organization.
I don't remember this H&M thing.
My solution of not caring about social media seems to work here.

Does an uproar about a black child wearing a Coolest Monkey in the Jungle shirt ring any bells?
Nope.
Spam will never die.

9 years later and still haven't realized lmao
I'm not mad at this.
‘The Simpsons’ responds to criticism that Apu is a stereotype:
Shortly before the new episode aired, “Simpsons” showrunner Al Jean even tweeted: “New Simpsons in five minutes. Twitter explosion in act three.”
Marge runs into repeated issues of sociopolitical insensitivity, however, when a favorite book from her childhood is viewed through a 21st-century prism. As Marge reads to daughter Lisa, the story’s “cisgender” heroine gets an au courant update. Soon, Marge has altered so much of the book with attempted cultural correctives that it’s stripped of narrative arcs and emotional journeys.
At that point, there’s “no point” to such stories, Lisa says. But what’s a storyteller to do, Marge asks.
“It’s hard to say,” young Lisa replies. “Something that started decades ago and was applauded and inoffensive is now politically incorrect. What can you do?”![]()

Considering one of their writers foretold the online flail before the episode aired (As a bonus in response to Act 3 none the less) its hard for me to see this as edgy reactionary bullshit designed to response to the one dimensional indian character who was written by white people and voiced by a white person.More than anything, it looks like The Simpsons' writers did this to cause a stir, which is exactly what they've accomplished, and that's disheartening. They're saying "We hear you" and "We're annoyed with what we hear," and then going against their critics just to be edge and part of the conversation
Anyways congratulations on being relevant on social media for the first time ever simpsons for something besides a VA passing away.
