If you mean the picture no. pack 1 pick 1 refers to drafting in mtg and basically the first pick in the first pack you open for the draft. In this context it's basically just a which female in magic community do you think is the hottest. Which is pretty fucking innocuous. If you mean the dies to thing that's just the old stupid chestnut that people liked to say random creature XXX is terrible because it dies to removal. No shit Sherlock everything dies to something.

And yes despite being loads of fun it's a terrible game. Horribly expensive. Very much pay to win. At higher levels also requires putting professional level amounts of time (while also basically promoting wotc and being pc for them. Cheatings ok though)... for almost no pay while also still having to buy all your own equipment that constantly purposefully gets outdate to sell more cards which ya know most people can't have a full time job that costs them money lol. It's pretty horrible how promoters, professional players and judges are paid little to nothing and most of that is in cards or just tickets to events and imo a big root of ongoing drama as people do everything they can to get as many patereons, supporters, followers from a limited community as they can to barely live a min wage live... unless you're a hot girl then you can wear lingerie... er cosplay

Dammit Panda stop being my spirit animal. One of my first decks I made myself and tuned and focused was a blue/black mill strategy. So main goal was to use traumatize to put the top half of their library into their deck and then use Haunting Echoes to remove all cards besides basics in that graveyard from the game and then remove all cards in the library from the game too. Needless to say both being 5 mana cards that didn't immediately win or stop opponent from killing me it rarely happened. In fact only time it did happen was against a battle of wits deck and due to the sheer number of cards since it was a 250 card deck it took like 10 minutes to resolve and I got called for taking too long. Also had backup mill plan of Scalpelexis. But that was somewhat luck based as you only got 4 cards an attack unless 2 cards match... but that one time in a huge odyssey block tournament where I got 12 repeats in a single attack to deck a guy in 1 attack and seeing him rage each time he checked and I lucked out made it all worth it

got another blue/red/black control deck based around Nicol Bolas (planeswalker). shit's awesome but my buddies would never play against it because it was so frustrating to play against.

All about that braingeyser > fork combo. Went against a burn deck where the guy had 3 mana flares out when I dropped that shit on him.

Back in mirrodon block I made my ultimate type mill deck. Myr incubator + tons of free artifact creatures to make tons of 1/1s, skullclamp to turn those 1/1s into card draw, Auriok Steelshaper to make the equips free. Draw and play my entire deck as early as turn 2 on average by turn 4. Finish it off with brainfreeze. Took 4 players on at once one time. On turn 3 I milled all 4 of them out and one had a 200 card deck. Won multiple games because opponents just got bored watching me spend 5-10 minutes going thru my whole deck on the turn I went off lol. Beat people playing Type 1 broken combo decks. Troll the heck out of people. Then they banned skullclamp and I /ragequit.

Also it's called esper and grixis you n00b. Lrnurwedges/shards God. Alternatively you can occasionally get by with calling Nicol Bolas control decks cruel control as one of the staples was often Cruel ultimatum

mtg cards were the original loot boxes and yes, "expensive addiction" is accurate af. I will never, ever return for that reason

That's what I've been saying. A lot of the youtube peeps been trying to say they aren't the same.

And like sure the paper ones you actually own in your hand can be sold and such.... but that is a pretty volatile market especially last few years. And that doesn't apply at all to online. Direct sales can't happen and they just proved they have no qualms about seizing someones entire collection for alleged behavior outside the game so definitely don't really own them either (though we've always know that to be technically true since that's basically every online games ToS).

The last few years the only form of MTG I've played has been draft. Consistent pricing and if you end up with a money card can usually cash out on the spot and break even or better on the night.

Sold my entire collection last year for a few thousand dollars (which was instantly turned into a new guitar)
