NeoGAF Suffers a Meltdown after the Site Owner is Exposed for Sexual Assault

My wife had it on CNN the other morning was I was prepping for work and the only thing that kind of irks me about the #MeToo campaign is that it's specifically being marketed as thing for women.

I don't expect a lot of people to be monitoring it, but has there been many men using it? I get that the %s are more than likely skewed towards women but it kind of immediately gains my skepticism if it's stated to be specific to one sex over the other.

I've seen a few posts that are kinda cutting it off at the knees as well. Talking about how #MeToo means nothing unless men are willing to out themselves with #IDid.

I hate to say it but how is this particular story sexual assault? He was certainly being presumptuous by jumping naked into the shower with her, and creepy perhaps, but she went on a road trip and partied and drank with a strange man knowing very well what that usually entails, so unless he touched her or continued after she said no it doesn't seem like assault to me. Sure, but he didn't touch her, so how is it sexual assault? Creepy, perv, weirdo, inappropriate, whatever is fine. But legally, no sexual assault took place

I dont want to argue semantics cause this guy is a fucking sleazebag no questions asked. but unless the definition of "Sexual Assault", specifically, "Assault", has changed, Jacobs is right.

I'm no lawyer but pretty sure there would need to be contact for it to count. This sounds more like a dictionary definition of sexual harassment albeit in a more direct grosser fashion than we generally think of

Yeah I hate to defend the guy because he's definitely a creep but I don't like the idea of lynch mobs forming when there's no evidence or facts of what took place. I've been seeing "NeoGAF owner RAPED woman" articles all over the internet which is ridiculous and hyperbolic and stuff like that devalues people who have actually been sexually assaulted. I don't like the guy either but by the very account of his accuser it wasn't rape

I shared a past experience, myself, but I have no doubt some might think it "doesn't count" for guys or that they're just trying to make it about them like all jerkass dudes would.

I've seen quite a few instances of guys jumping in to share their experiences only to get shouted down to silence again. It's pretty infuriating. I tend to attribute it to the more radical feminists doing it though and not your average person, obviously.

Sexual assault is defined as covering contact or behavior that occurs without consent. Assault by itself only means reasonable fear of unwanted contact. Battery is the one where touching happens.
