Avengers 4: Endgame (April 26, 2019)

Got my ticket for an 8:30 Thursday night show. A few theatres had the prime seats already sold but no sellouts yet. I guess that’s one perk of living in a small-ish city.

Infinity War was PG-13 for "intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references."

This probably belongs in the spoiler thread but it's part of a discussion I want to have. It's not spoilerly I don't think but I will put it in tags anyway.

One thing that always bothered me about IW was that Thanos never used the Stones/Gauntlet to it's full potential until the very end. Think about it. He only used the Stones powers one at a time except for The Snap. After he got the Soul Stone and arrived on Titan to fight Tony, Peter and co. he was basically invincible already. He could have captured all their souls or teleported them all to the surface of a star and ended it right there. I know if he used the Stones like this it would have made for a real short movie lol so I understand. But that was just a example to make you get why this part really bothered me.

After he gets the Mind Stone and the Gauntlet is complete then Thor shows up and throws Stormbreaker at him with the Bifrost, Thanos raises the Gauntlet and shoots a beam of energy out of it but the Bifrost overwhelms it and that badass greataxe hits Thanos. The only thing was if you watch the scene the energy beam Thanos sent out was different, separate colors each matching the color of a stone. It makes me think he still didn't know how to tap into the Gauntlet's true power. There should be NO WAY Stormbreaker as powerful as it is could stop the power of the Stones working together. Unless I missed a issue and there's something I don't know. In the comics when Thanos first gets the Stones (before Infinity Gauntlet) he doesn't realize their full power. I'm hoping in this movie he realizes and uses the Gauntlet at least a little like he did in the comic.

Either the Russos or Fiege confirmed that Stormbreaker only broke through that beam because Thanos was caught off guard. If he had another second or two to prepare, he'd be fine.

He used multiple stones at a time during the fight on Titan, after Tony dropped that pillar on him right at the start he used Reality and Soul together to make those bats to attack tony, power and space together to throw the moon, reality and space together to pull Dr. Strange towards him and Power and Soul I think together to force all of Dr . Strange’s split bodies back together, those are the instances I can think of when he used multiple stones together, there might be more, but he did only have the 4 stones at the time so I’m sure if they fight him again when he has all 6 he’ll do more crazy shit.

Thanos could have killed everyone even with just a single stone if he desired, but that wouldn’t have been “balance” and that was his whole thing. Think about people he killed directly—Loki and Heimdall—well, he was already culling Asgardians. Gamora? He didn’t want to, but he had to do it to get the Soul Stone. Vision, same deal. We didn’t see piles on dead bodies on Nowhere. He could have easily killed any of the Avengers on Titan or Wakanda, but actively worked not to it seems.

Even without breaking the 4th wall with the execs one can easily see he killed when necessary not when he felt like it. Perfect example is that Team Tony suffered 0 (read: ZERO) deaths when it was overwhelmingly apparent he could have knocked off at least Tony with the sword.
