it is embarrassingly ignorant to pretend like the value of a unit of money doesn't change over time. you can stick with the thought process that states Tron Legacy and Hotel Transylvania 2 were more successful than Gone with the Wind but it reeks of fanboys vested in pretending their film was even more phenomenally successful than it was.
postscript adjusting for inflation abroad isn't much more difficult than adjusting for inflation domestically
