Praying the sun doesn't get uppity with Earth.
i mean in what, 6 billion years? something like that, the sun is gonna get REAL handsy with the Earth.
NDT released a statement where he comes off as super awkward around girls he is attracted to to the point that it is potentially a workplace issue. Dude should wife up and forget about other women for his own sake.
https://www.npr.org/2018/12/02/67264...ual-harassment
tl;dr: he did it, but probably in an Aziz kind of way with an intraoffice spin.
NDT you're supposed to be smarter then this.
Not fond of him in general and not making excuses for him, his apology seems legitimate though.
He has a wife lol
He gave his account and welcomed an investigation. Not really sure how much more you can do when accused. I found the real culprit behind the allegations though
Spoiler: show
His account was basically "yeah I did these weird physical things that made these women feel uncomfortable" without an understanding of why he shouldn't have.

Also not sure if making someone uncomfortable counts as sexual assault.
But I'm probably pretty biased because I love NDT and don't want him to turn out to be a perv![]()
My wife got pissed off at me because I moved her gloves and scarf from a bench near our door to the counter so the dog wouldn't get them. She got angry so I apologized. Didn't matter that I don't know what I did wrong.
I mean context is key, and this is only valid IF he's being honest about the shit that happened.I did x. I didn't realize that it was a bad thing to do at the time, or that it would make people feel like shit. I'm sorry for what I made those people go through and I'm not about to tell them how they should feel about what I did.
we are often too loose in terminology but the recent claims from two women are not claiming assault but harassment and misconduct. and your boss inviting you over for what you think is a talk about your career then they take off their t-shirt, offer you wine, tell you they need a physical release, and that they want to hug you badly but then they'd just want more is p much misconduct to a t. then feeling up another woman trying to find a tattoo that is covered up by their dress is harassment to a t. and Tyson doesn't really dispute any of those actions just says they were misinterpreted (k e k).
the most serious allegation is the date rape of a fellow graduate student, and this Tyson denies fully while also finding it relevant to put out on his post that she dropped out of grad school, got pregnant, and isn't even a real scientist.
the whole missive is smarmy condescending and gross, and the hypocrisy is painful as he opens by saying he believes accusations shouldn't be adjudicated in the press then proceeds to do just that. and even in this compromised position he continues to talk down to his audience while engaging in all the classic accused moves such as character assassinating an accuser and demanding the behavior of the perfect victim (he notes one of his accusers hugged him after the misconduct so clearly it wasn't anything. I wonder how he would take the news many rape victims continue to be friends with and/or proceed to date their rapists).
I guess the real question is, did he have a calendar?
Not to split hairs too much but technically speaking I think the whole grabbing on and reach up the dress probably counts. At the very least it meets the bare minimum of legal definitions of assault and battery albeit not a very egregious form... though he doesn't really admit to doing it. Just says that's something he would do which kind of sounds worse lol. Like oh yeah probably did that all the time.
As for the t-shirt and release part from the npr article just says he took off shoes and was in a tank top... which is still kind of weird. The wine thing isn't too weird considering they both agree that's what he invited her up for though can definitely see how she thought it was part of work talk. He doesn't outright deny the super creepy release thing but it is missing from the statement so figure it's a sort of disputed... or he doesn't want to give the whole that sounds like me but don't remember thing again. He does agree with the weird overly long handshake though that she seemed to be pretty upset about at the time so should've been a clue then
