Hollywood: Sexual assault whack-a-mole

Singer's toast now, seems like. Of all the Hollywood villainry we've heard about his is by far the easiest to believe. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I don't doubt he had something to do with the death of his last accuser.

You know, I was thinking about these assaults lately while blasting through Stranger Things.

In general, what do you guys feel about these two things in films/shows:

1. Underage actors performing sexual actions to other underage actors (ie. kissing/making out/etc.)

2. Adult actors portraying underage roles performing sexual actions to other adult actors. (ie. kissing/making out/etc.)

While obviously we would hope that adults would know better than to molest kids, I feel like we as a society are helping to continue the sexualization of younger kids. Plus:

Having Millie and Finn kiss may be playing a part, but they actually had to kiss. It feels a little bit like coercion and creepy to be all "You want this part and millions of dollars? Then kiss." afaik She was only 12 at the time of the first season. And here we all are trying to root to watch the two kiss. It's weird.

Maybe I am over thinking it, but it definitely feels that we, the consumers, treat kid actors like they are adults. I remember there was some issue of people flipping the fuck out because Finn didn't sign autographs, when he's just a kid. So, I feel we are part to blame for actors treating kid actors like adults.

It's acting and that's all.

Yes but if shit goes unreported then wtf are we supposed to do about it. There's no laws that kick in a shut the thing down.

Well, I am not asking for laws, so much as people's thoughts on whether there SHOULD be more laws/protections.

Or, if anything, a movement to boycott that behavior so companies are discouraged to do it.

Which sucks, 'cause I actually really do like the show, but those bits put a sour taste in my mouth considering everything that is coming to light.

Actors, especially child actors, especially in scenes involving sexual contact, should be clearly informed about and consenting to the scene in which they are performing.

I'm all for believing the victim. I'm not really for deciding to be outraged for the victim when she says otherwise.
