Jess Cliffe, the co-creator of Counter-Strike and a game computer designer for Valve Corporation, was booked early Thursday for sexual exploitation of a child.

Police did not immediately release details, and Cliffe was not charged with a crime. Police did not say if an actual child was harmed. Cliffe does not have a criminal history.

Judge let him off w/o charges.

Judge Janice Cunningham called the situation "scary", but added: "I recognise that Mr Margraves had three daughters that he has had to watch go through the pain and the hurt. I can't imagine what it is like for a parent."

The distraught father was later brought before the judge in handcuffs, and apologised to everyone in the courtroom, saying he was "embarrassed".

"I'm not here to upstage my daughters, I'm here to help them heal," he said.

"I got to hear that, and I got to see Larry Nassar over here shaking his head 'no,' like it didn't happen," Mr Margraves said.

The judge accepted his apology, and confirmed he will not face contempt of court charges.

"There is no way that this court is going to issue any type of punishment, given the circumstances of this case," Judge Cunningham said.

"My heart does go out to you and your family for what has happened to you."

He wasn't some vulnerable individual caught up in a bad lifestyle, he was a predator that did things he knew were wrong for his own sexual gratification.

this. rehabilitation should be the fundamental goal of correctional systems but there is no substantiated evidence a pedophile's sexual orientation can be changed, it is as futile an enterprise as praying the gay away or convincing a heterosexual male he should only watch gay porn for the rest of his life. that is to say pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated in a fundamental sense, at best they can be taught how to control their deviant psychologies. and while therapy can lower the rates of recidivism a sexual attraction to children will always be there, and given the life-shattering impact acting on that desire has on victims i am fine with child molestation being treated with the utmost severity and life imprisonment being the norm for such offenses.
