Disney CEO Bob Iger is stepping down, to be replaced by former head of theme parks division Bob Chapek. IMO this is a terrible decision for Disney as a whole. Chapek is terrible.

If you follow insider theme parks he doesn’t have a good reputation. He is a penny pincher and many of those galaxy edge features got cut cause of him.

Chapek has been running theme parks since 2015 and is a notorious budget cutter and price raiser. As mentioned, most of the cuts to GE were his doing.

Michael Eisner gets a bad rep for how things went from him from 2000 or so on, but he (and Frank Wells) literally saved Disney as a company in the mid 80s after a few attempted hostile takeovers. They were responsible for the Disney renaissance in animation, the purchase of ABC & ESPN, and vastly improving and updating the theme parks with modern attractions. Eisner was known to go into the parks in disguise to see how a regular every day guest would be treated. His attention to detail was nuts for someone in a CEO position. Some of his more out there ideas were reigned in by Frank Wells, and following Wells’ death it was plain to see that most of the positives under Eisner came from collaboration. Despite this, on his way out, Eisner lobbied personally for Bob Iger to replace him because he knew he would be best for the company.

Chapek has the nickname of Cheapek because of his penny pinching. He took over for the parks right after Galaxy's Edge was announced and there were so many awesome plans for the land that got cut. Here's what SW:GE edge was supposed to have from the initial plans:

• Hired American Guild for Variety Artists were to be hired to play characters in the land
• Interactive Tech that allows guests to role-play their own SW Adventure
• Roaming First Order, Resistance Troops, Bounty Hunters, and Droids
• Drones taking off and arriving on roof tops towards the edge of the land
• Rooftop Stunt Shows (Jedi vs Storm Troopers and other Villains)
• Actors/Actresses that were like NPC's offering "quests" in exchange for Galactic Credits
• A Dewback Ride that was like the people mover
• A sit down Dinner Theater Restaurant with entertainment. Oga's Cantina is part of this and was supposed to be the lobby.

Chapek also brought over a Senior Vice President of Commercial Strategy to help them monetize as much as they could from Star Wars land, and they all thought that when it opened, the crowds would be huge. This is why they had a bunch of blockout dates for AP's during the summer and why the price increased before Galaxy's Edge opened.

I get it in some ways. The value of his role is no doubt measured by how much money he can demonstrate he saves the company, not how many smiles per guest.

Proud Family is Getting a Sequel Series with All of the Original VA's
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder

Picking up the story of its central character Penny Proud, the new series will also include her madcap family: parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and her grandmother Suga Mama (and Puff!).

Of course, it would not be "The Proud Family" without Penny's loyal crew Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez and Zoey Howzer, among others.

Just like the Marvel films getting delayed, most Disney Studio films are getting delayed releases with Dwayne Johnson's Jungle Cruise & Indy 5 eating one year delays.

“Soul,” an existential animated film from Pixar, has not wavered from its opening weekend on June 19. The studio’s live-action remake of “Mulan” has been pushed to July 24, 2020, debuting on the date previously occupied by “Jungle Cruise.” However, there is no guarantee that theaters will even be reopened by then. Sources at Disney note that release dates for all films could continue to move given the uncertainty over the global health crisis.

“Jungle Cruise,” a family film starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, will bow on July 20, 2021, roughly a year later than expected. Down the road, Harrison Ford’s “Indiana Jones 5,” initially set for summer of 2021, launches on July 29, 2022.

Sci-fi fantasy film “Artemis Fowl,” which was supposed to open on May 29, will instead debut on Disney Plus, making it the studio’s first film to entirely skip its theatrical release.

For now, Disney is keeping dates for holiday offerings “West Side Story” (Dec. 18) and “The Last Duel” (Dec. 25).
